FBC Firebreak delivers an experience that is, at best, competent and, at worst, tedious. Given the glut of options in the multiplayer FPS market and the $40 price tag this game carries, it is hard to suggest it to anyone.

FBC: Firebreak est un jeu qui donne constamment l’impression de rester en surface. Il a de bonnes idées, une base intéressante et quelques mécaniques qui sortent timidement du lot. Son système de soins, ses synergies élémentaires ou encore sa direction artistique soignée montrent qu’il y avait matière à proposer une expérience coopérative plus marquante. Mais au lieu de creuser, le jeu se contente de répéter une formule très classique, avec trop peu de contenu pour vraiment accrocher sur la durée. Cinq missions seulement, un arsenal limité, des objectifs sans relief et une progression artificiellement ralentie : autant d’éléments qui freinent l’adhésion. Même les sensations de tir, fondamentales dans un FPS, peinent à convaincre. Il faut monter dans les difficultés les plus élevées pour que le gameplay prenne enfin un peu de relief. Et c’est là tout le paradoxe, Firebreak n’est pas un mauvais jeu, mais il donne l’impression d’un accès anticipé déguisé, pas encore prêt à exploiter son potentiel. Avec quelques armes en plus, des ennemis plus variés et un contenu narratif un peu plus affirmé, il pourrait devenir bien plus qu’un shooter coop parmi d’autres. En l’état, il reste juste fonctionnel. Et c’est un peu trop peu.

FBC: Firebreak stings a little, because it has so much of what we’re looking for in a co-op shooter. It’s got the killer world and aesthetic, it’s got quirky powers and role based kits, it’s got tight first-person gameplay, and doesn’t require you to grind things out for dozens of hours. However, despite all of that, Firebreak's just fine, and ironically lacks the fire that we expect from Remedy's output. It’s a fun, casual time, but you’ll play it, you’ll finish it, and before long you’ll forget about it and wish you had been playing Control 2 instead.

Lost in Random: The Eternal Die est une franche réussite. Probablement pas le roguelite le plus abouti au niveau sa profondeur de gameplay pour certains, mais son univers, sa soif d’inclure le joueur ou la joueuse dans son histoire ou encore ses mécaniques de roguelite agrémentées à la sauce Lost in Random, en font une proposition solide, accessible même aux moins habitués du genre, et techniquement au top. Se terminant en à peu près 12 h et promettant pas mal de contenu en end-game pour celles et ceux qui voudraient poursuivre l’aventure, Lost in Random: The Eternal Die est une excellente surprise en cette période estivale, à un prix contenu qui plus est.

Cette suite du premier Lost in Random est une franche réussite. Par sa capacité à retranscrire parfaitement un univers qui était déjà parvenu à nous embarquer en 2021, tout en nous proposant une expérience de jeu totalement différente. Cette fois-ci, les développeurs suédois de Stormteller Games s'approprient totalement le genre du roguelite à la Hadès sans pour autant le révolutionner, et proposent finalement un titre solide et sur lequel on ne voit pas le temps passer.

Lost in Random: The Eternal Die è un roguelike competente e piacevolmente immediato, capace di offrire una bella manciata di ore di puro divertimento e di portare a compimento ogni sua idea senza dilungarsi oltre il necessario. L'intuizione di un sistema di progressione basato su artefatti colorati era ottima e, nonostante la profondità delle build resti tutto sommato limitata, la combinazione di combattimenti nervosi e lancio del dado come arma rende l'esperienza molto più che piacevole. La varietà estetica e ludica dei biomi e dei potenziamenti poteva spingersi oltre, e chi cerca build complesse potrebbe avvertire la mancanza di scelte tattiche di lungo termine. È un'esperienza calibrata e compatta, in cui la riproposizione di stanze simili non inficia troppo la qualità del gameplay, ma ne segna chiaramente i confini. Si tratta di un ottimo antipasto prima delle grandi portate che merita un posto nella libreria degli amanti del genere e dei più curiosi.

I have no really strong criticisms of Tron: Catalyst. But I also don't have any great praise to heap upon it. Nearly across the board – from combat, to music, to writing, to area design – it competently gets the job done and calls it a centicycle. It may just become the seven out of 10 game I think of in the coming years when someone wants a really good example of a seven out of 10 game. And for what it's worth, that means I had a decently good time with it. In a world of bloated, hundred-plus-hour, obscenely high-budget collectathons, I think a Tron: Catalyst here and there is a nice, restrained palate cleanser. But it does leave me with the vaguely unsatisfied feeling that I wanted it to be a bit more, especially with its rewind mechanic that seemed like it could’ve been something special.

Abbiamo poco altro da aggiungere su Tron: Catalyst. Semplicemente lasciatelo perdere. Come scritto più volte nella recensione, è un gioco davvero piatto, che non riesce a brillare in nessun aspetto, nonostante il neon abbondi per tutta l'avventura. In alcuni momenti è così superficiale che viene da chiedersi perché Bithell abbia voluto svilupparlo, soprattutto dopo lo splendido Tron: Identity, che era evidentemente più nelle corde del suo studio.

TRON: Catalyst è un gioco che fa il suo dovere in quasi ogni comparto: dalla durata dell’avventura al sistema di combattimento, dalla direzione artistica al comparto sonoro, fino al prezzo di lancio decisamente equo. Ma proprio questa sua solidità generale, senza particolari picchi né cadute, rappresenta al tempo stesso il suo pregio principale e il limite che gli impedisce di spiccare davvero. Chissà che Bithell Games, magari con un futuro progetto ambientato ancora nel mondo di Tron, non riesca a colmare quel divario tra "buon gioco" ed "esperienza imperdibile". Nell'attesa, TRON: Catalyst resta un'avventura isometrica consigliato ai fan del franchise, e un ottimo antipasto prima dell’arrivo di Tron: Ares nelle sale cinematografiche.
