For the minority, War of the Vikings is the ideal successor to the equally niche War of the Roses: it’s unusual, brutal, but incredibly fun at the right times. The viking theme doesn’t hurt, either, and will certainly work well to attract many more players than the English Civil War theme ever did. If you’re a fan of that original game, then this is a must buy, but for those simply intrigued by the prospect, it could easily be a bit too messy to enjoy.

Ether One is a sobering and thoughtful journey filled with intrigue and contemplation, rounded out with well-crafted and optional puzzle sections. This isn’t the kind of game which will appeal to everyone and if it’s action you’re after, I’d advise going elsewhere. However, if the prospect of experiencing a truly captivating story wrapped up in a exploration based puzzle game is an attractive one, then Ether One delivers and won’t disappoint.

It was a joy to play, although that may seem a terrible misuse of language, as it was enlightening in a way I’ve never experienced in a videogame. I can wholly recommend Actual Sunlight; it’s not for the faint of heart, but it’s an experience worth trying. I can guarantee you’ll learn something about the inner-workings of a depressed individual, and you never know when that knowledge will come in handy.

Smite adds a welcome twist to the MOBA formula and, with constant updates and tweaks made with the help of the community, doesn't look like it will be fizzling out anytime soon! If you've ever wanted to know what it would be like to throw Thor’s hammer into Poseidon’s face, look no further than Smite: Battleground of the Gods.

Hardcore fans of the genre and Daedalic Entertainment will find enough to like here with the developer’s trademark stunning art, believable voice acting and interesting setting, but an underwhelming story prevents 1954 Alcatraz from matching their stellar previous efforts.

Overall Garden Warfare is a game that takes the core strengths of shooters and makes them accessible to all. Its presentation is fantastic and infects the game with charm at every turn. If you’re looking for a fun time, PopCap gives it to you in spades. By ratcheting up the fun and lowering the seriousness, Garden Warfare gives its players what everyone wants from a video game: A good time.

Thief is a disappointment. However, laying beyond its shortcomings with movement mechanics, combat and narrative, is a satisfying core of theft and stealth that can, at times, still have you feeling like a master thief. If you’re looking for something to waste hours collecting digital trinkets on, and feeling like a total bad ass thief while doing so, then this may be for you. For anyone looking for a story-driven, combat-focused, narrative-based experience you’d be better off looking elsewhere.

Lords of Shadow 2 may not surpass its predecessors’ surprise rise to AAA status, but MercurySteam’s last foray into the series still provides a fitting, if sometimes flawed end to the trilogy.

OlliOlli is a game that sounds good on paper, but in the end, doesn’t work. By the end, you realise you're just going through the same routine, except this time you’re flicking the analog stick a bit more than you were a few minutes ago. Only take this one if you’re really desperate for something to play when you’re on the bus.

This is ultimately something very different and represents a brilliant transferal of typically PC-only gameplay to console. I fully recommend buying Don’t Starve on PS4, but if it ever joins PS+ again, then you’ve got no reason to miss it.

Liberation was a great handheld title and its transition to console is well worth a look if you’re a fan of the series and don’t own a Vita. The game certainly has its flaws though; the average story and dull dialogue may quite rightly turn you away.
