It does what a good RPG should but doesn’t excel at anything in particular. The graphics are good but the occasional poor texture brings you out of the experience; the fighting is simple but isn’t up there with that found in Dragon Age and the speech system is good but not brilliant. That makes Dungeon Siege III sound like a bad game and it’s truly not. At times, it can be a lot of fun and searching for the loot at the end of the map is as satisfying as it’s ever been. Although the loot at the end is sometimes worth fighting and dying for, the journey you must take to get there is full of trouble and disappointment that some will love and others will become bored of very quickly.

When I first heard about the Captain America movie, I wasn’t what I would call ecstatic. Sadly, I also wasn’t that enthused by the news (although not surprised at all) that there would be a game tie-in. I consider this the main reason why I enjoyed the game to the extent that I did.

When we first glimpsed F.E.A.R. 3 our biggest concern was whether the introduction of co-op gameplay would change the series. Red River is not a bad game; it just isn’t a particularly great one. It has some nice ideas (tactical wheel, dumbed down difficulty and upgradeable characters) but the bad points outweigh them massively. Mediocre graphics, frustrating gameplay and annoying AI can detract from the experience, making Red River a game that only deserves to be played if you’ve got the others in the series or if you can stick through the titles many negative aspects.

The SOCOM series has always been a third-person tactical shooter which has allowed the player to control their squad quickly and easily, to get the job done. The emphasis in all the previous games has been to make the game more about using a squad to their advantages and not using them as human shields as you plough your way through the game: as a team, rather than a one man army.

I enjoyed the mechanics of the game; even if there were some let-downs. The repetition and the fact it got quite tedious way too quickly spoiled the experience of the game for me – alongside the infuriatingly stupid time constraints. I feel that the game is mainly geared toward the younger generations, but it’s the kind of game parents can easily jump into to give their children a helping hand when they got stuck. I feel the colour aspects works really well; especially hand-in-hand with the brilliantly rendered graphics. A definite for those kids who enjoy their colour and are looking for a simple game.

If you remember Crysis then you will remember a truly awesome game with fantastic graphics, a good storyline and a single player that would allow you to face objectives in your own way; whether they were to jump straight in and shoot everyone, or to sit back and slowly but surely move around the map picking off people left and right.

Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime is the newest release from Behaviour Interactive in which you must use your Proton Pack to kill a multitude of different coloured ghosts and ghouls. Can this arcade-style game really live up to the Ghostbusters name or will it leave with a dial tone?
