Carnival Games: Monkey See, Monkey Do is, in many ways, a predictable follow-up to the series' three previous titles. It contains many of the same kinds of activities and presents them using the same audio/visual approach. Where it makes a significant improvement is by making the jump to Kinect and greatly increasing the player's sense of control. Short, simple, and repetitive as it is, this isn't the kind of title hardcore gamers will get much out of. Casual gamers and party game enthusiasts, on the other hand, will probably get a kick out of it.

Despite its many shortcomings, Splinter Cell 3D is still fun to play. And that's what matters most. It's not even close to being as good as Chaos Theory on Xbox, but then again, I couldn't play that on a plane. If the AI were even passable and not laughable, this would be an easier recommendation. While it might lack features and multiplayer, Splinter Cell 3D will do in a pinch for stealth game fans.

Anomaly: Warzone Earth is a clever twist on tower defense that will rope back in gamers that think they’ve had enough of the well-worn formula. The balancing act between action and strategy is nicely tuned. Even when the firefights are ferocious, you’re still thinking about adjusting routes and how to smartly deploy precious power-ups so you don’t run dry later in the mission. And to top it all off, Anomaly’s good story and great locations give you constant reasons to fight. You always want to see what happens next. Thankfully, the gameplay itself is strong enough to bring you back even after the final act.

NASCAR The Game 2011 shines in the midst of pack racing where it’s a compelling game that anyone who likes moving fast on four wheels can enjoy. But the experience on the outside of the pack and the flawed online play make it a less than successful overall package.

Even with those imperfections in place, though, I have to highly recommend Monster Tale for every DS owner to seriously consider purchasing – for a younger gamer, sure, but also for yourself. This is a game that has clearly been crafted with love and respect for what video gaming is. The passion of its developer is apparent in every scene, enemy design, and animation frame. It's just a joy to play. You might get a bit frustrated at times, as I did. The backtracking isn't great and some of those Chomp evolutions are a headache. But all the while, even in those moments, you won't stop smiling. Because you'll just be constantly taken aback at how much love went into this Tale.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky is the first in what promises to be a strong, entertaining trilogy. Although this first chapter is not the most original ever made, like any good JRPG it offers amusing writing, dynamic combat, interesting tasks, an absorbing narrative, and hours upon hours of gameplay. And while the game's 50/50 balance between combat and story may not be to everyone's taste, its charm and overall entertainment value make it well worth the investment.

The Dishwasher: Vampire Smile is all about the combat. This is a refined version of the first title, with better dodging, more varied and entertaining enemies, and the same over-the-top violence that defined the original. The repetitive level design can become mind-numbing in any sort of prolonged session, but the excellent combat is enough to make it worth playing if you’re looking for a good character action game.

Chime Super Deluxe takes the idea of a platform specific re-release and does it right. While the price is double that of the original, Chime Super Deluxe more than makes up for it with gameplay that's more refined, twice as many tracks, and multiplayer support that works surprisingly well. It's a great game, and a great deal.

But with the crowds in these arenas audibly reacting to the hairs-breadth play that makes the professional game so exciting, Top Spin 4 really does come closer than any tennis game to date when it comes to capturing the real essence of one of sport's most graceful games. There's a way to go before match point is won by a virtual tennis game, but Top Spin 4 is definitely a couple of sets up, at least.

Dynasty Warriors 7 is one of those games that really only appeals to a certain niche of gamers. And that’s totally fine. Dynasty Warriors fans are going to find a whole lot to like with Dynasty Warriors 7, including an expansive set of options that will keep players busy for a very long time. But for everybody else, playing Dynasty Warriors 7 will be a chore. The gameplay is repetitive and boring, the aesthetics are bland, and the story -- while interesting and chock-full of characters -- can be hard to follow and bogged-down by melodramatic delivery. In other words, those who are already into the Dynasty Warriors franchise will love Dynasty Warriors 7. Everybody else should stay away.

These moments would have made me more angry, but really, most moments in Rush'N Attack: Ex-Patriot feel the same whether you've actually played them yet or not. Ex-Patriot is a drab, boring example of the dangers of nostalgia-mining down an unstable shaft. It plays badly, it looks dated and its design is uninspired and boring. Rush'N Attack: Ex-Patriot feels like an aimless stab at cashing in on the successes of its peers, and looks worse for the comparison.

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12 doesn't play much different than last year's game, but the additions of a more fleshed out career mode focused around the long-awaited Masters Tournament and a caddie system that welcomes new players round out the game more. All three versions are great, so you can't go wrong with whichever you choose. I prefer the PS3 version because of it's balance between the motion controls online play. If it featured disc golf like the Wii version it'd be the premiere version of the game.

Shift 2 Unleashed's a violent and immersive racer that recreates the driving experience like no other game on the market. In doing so it builds well on the first Shift's foundations, benefitting from Slightly Mad Studios' more refined touch and the inclusion of Autolog, but its handling is still too loose and its steps forward too small for it to truly beat Gran Turismo and Forza – although it does enough to ensure that it's pulled ever closer.

Tomb Raider Trilogy is a handy collection of three recent Tomb Raider games, two of which have been given a graphical boost and take advantage of the PS3's capabilities. Tomb Raider Anniversary and Tomb Raider Underworld are both fun games and combine immensely enjoyable platforming and some neat puzzles with mediocre combat. But Tomb Raider Legend just doesn't hold up. I'd even recommend skipping it, though you do miss out on a few cool scenes if you jump straight into Anniversary.
