Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07 is a great deal of fun. True Aiming means that you'll have to play more like a real golfer - gone are the days where you can pin-point a shot again and again. Though last year's next-gen game felt light on features, Tiger 07 brings up back up to bar with only a slight handicap on its scorecard. If you're a golf fan, pick this one up on launch day

What World Snooker Championship 2007 does exceptionally well is make the potentially tricky sport of snooker accessible and enjoyable for those who've never even touched a cue. With its intuitive controls, it enables beginners get to grips with potting a few balls, while skilled snooker players can pull off more complex techniques like spin. However, no matter how accessible the gameplay may be, visually it's atrocious and the frame rate is all over the place. As a snooker simulation there's no faulting World Snooker Championship 2007's gameplay but, if you're expecting it to show off your PS3's graphical grunt, you've got more chance of getting a 147 break with your eyes closed.

Darwin is actually much better than its box would lead you to believe. When you figure out how you're actually supposed to play the game, it becomes a reasonably enjoyable action/puzzle game that would be especially good for younger players. It won't win any beauty pageants (or settle debates about evolution), but you can do worse for $20.

Blazing Angels: Squadrons of WWII didn't change much in its transition to the PS3. It did, however, add a few new missions and planes, as well as a rewarding multiplayer mode not included in previous versions. Also, while the Sixaxis functionality offers an alternate control method, it doesn't really improve the game very much. It's fun to use for a while, but when it comes to accuracy, players will likely opt for the analog sticks.

The game is ridiculously addictive. Even after coming in 22nd place you'll still want to try again. It's easy to get frustrated by the game's seemingly intense desire on making you suffer terribly, but lying underneath rests a truly enjoyable racing game, that proves video games don't need to have flashy graphics or complex AI to actually be fun. Sure, there are other racing games out there today, hundreds of them. This one may not necessarily be better than the recent stuff, but it's unique, addictive, and demonstrates what gaming is really about.

It's its stylishness that makes Beyond Oasis a hit. It's not a timeless classic, and it could have used a bit more polish in several areas, but it is a solid representation of 16-bit era action-RPGs. Does Beyond Oasis deserve to be mentioned alongside such classics as Secret of Mana? Sure! Check it out, genre fans, you'll be surprised.

Thumbs way up for Ubisoft finally taking the high road with Nintendo DS and producing something completely original for the dual-screen handheld. But I just can't be as enthusiastic for the final product; it's certainly not terrible and the rhythmic jumping action has some fun and energy, but the fact remains that the game just ends up feeling inconsistent due to sloppy storytelling and, more importantly, an absolutely awful fighting engine.

TMNT for the Game Boy Advance is one hell of a gaming surprise, coming out at what's pretty much assumed to be the tail end of the handheld's lifespan. It's an awesome throwback to old-school game design, but with tons of flair and technique to jazz up the experience into a contemporary piece. It's easily one of the best brawling games I've played in years, and had the designers managed full-fledged multiplayer support I think we could have seen the best Turtles ever. It's damn near close, though. Don't miss it.

So it's just as well that Rick was dead – most gamers probably wouldn't have minded him staying that way. Except, of course, that Splatterhouse then couldn't have become a lasting franchise. This game was just the first in a series, as Rick's quest for revenge eventually continued into Splatterhouses 2 and 3, both games that improved on the basics established here in the original and both good candidates for the Virtual Console sometime down the road. And in today's climate of even more shocking survival horror, isn't the Splatterhouse franchise long overdue for a remake? If we can get Manhunt 2 on the Wii, then motion-controlled cleaver-wielding should be a perfect fit.

Immortal Throne is a great addition to the original Titan Quest. The new inventory options and the new mastery skill add a lot of fun and convenience to the core game and the additional Hades act really extends the game nicely for players who have already completed the rest of the campaign. It won't win over any gamers who aren't already fans of the action RPG format, but it sure works for people who are hankering for a new angle on the same type of action.

If you're a cricket fan then Brian Lara International Cricket 2007 gives you everything you could possibly wish for. There are two fully licensed tournaments to play through - ICC World Cup 2007 and the Champion’s Trophy. Plus, there are plenty of familiar international players, although you might not recognise them all because they look a little strange because of to the game's clunky graphics. Having said that, actually playing a game of cricket is enjoyable because there's a lot of depth to the bowling, batting and fielding. However, the package does little to attract non-cricket fans, thanks partly to the fact that some gameplay elements - particularly the bowling - require a lot of practice when most casual players just want to win test matches. With a few more fun cricket-themed features, like mini-games or a challenge mode, this would have been a great sporting achievement. As it is it's more like a county match - great if you're into that kind of thing, but not very interesting for everyone else.
