Gurumin is one of those pleasant surprises that you wouldn't necessarily expect from its childlike appearance. A ton of difficulty levels, loads of accessories and costumes for Parin and lots of mini-games await players that are willing to give this game a chance. While you'll have to put up with load times and a sometimes questionable camera, this is still an excellent title that should appeal to action fans.

Dogz just feels like it could have been so much more. Like a game that had the potential to be good and engaging, but ended up landing somewhere lost in the land of the mediocre. As a Game Boy Advance title, it would be more impressive. But we're well beyond the point in the DS life cycle where slapping on some stylus control on a GBA design and displaying a static image on the second screen is acceptable form. Gamers expect more now, and especially so since already seeing that extra effort come through in Nintendogs. Dogz may find an audience with parents who want to teach their children about the responsibilities of owning a dog before actually committing to the trip to a real pet store. But for a fun, interactive virtual puppy experience, stick with the proven million-selling winner and pick up -- or dust off your copy of -- Nintendogs.

This is a solid port of Paperboy, so if you liked the arcade original, there's no reason you won¿t dig having it on your mobile phone. I always enjoyed the classic game, so this was a worthy download for me. It should be for you, too.

Just as was the case in 2005, there's a lot to like in The Warriors. The gameplay is varied, the combat is deep, and the presentational and multiplayer extras add plenty of brownie points. Of course, the biggest issue for some many be the game's extreme level of violence (expect lots of blood, swearing, and street-level combat). However, given the source material, that shouldn't be a surprise. Principals aside, the more obvious snag for PSP users is the clunkier camera and defensive controls. But even with those hurdles, The Warriors is still a highly entertaining brawler and a worthy addition to most action fans' portable library.

While so many action games are devoid of strategy and so many strategy games are short on action, Battlestations Midway delivers both. So many people have wanted to take control of individual soldiers in real-time strategy titles like Company of Heroes or Battle for Middle Earth. In Battlestations Midway, you do more than zoom in. While the learning curve is relatively high, the time spent running ships aground and crashing planes into the ocean is worth it when you are dominating the Pacific. The graphics are a bit bland but there is a ton of detail. The score and voice-acting are well done, if repetitive. Still, Battlestations' shortcomings do not detract from a great gameplay experience that both action and strategy fans should enjoy. While the online options are thin, this game offers a great one-on-one option for RTS fans as well as a great co-op experience for those that have paid their dues on the training modes. For those tired of the same old thing, check out this unique new title from Eidos -- Battlestations Midway is anything but just another World War II game.

Gain Ground's understandably collected a cult following of fans since its Genesis release back in 1991, a large enough group to prompt Sega to revisit the title in 2004 with a PlayStation 2 remake of the design. That release only arrived in Japanese stores, meaning this VC download is the first fresh air Gain Ground has breathed in America since George H. W. Bush sat in the Oval Office. Strategy and action fans should take notice – not of the barely passable presentation or cumbersome graphics, but of the uncommon fun factor found in this mashed-up arcade combo of those two separate genres.

The new and improved Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo is good enough to save Capcom Puzzle Collection from falling too far down the numeric "buy it" scale because it's still laced with digital nicotine. But as I stated numerous times before, it's hard to justify buying an aged game at a higher price when there's only one title in the compilation worth playing. Plus, none of the other four entries warrant more than a few minutes of tryout time and some weird interface issues make it difficult to enjoy ad hoc in a seamless way. This one's for Super Puzzle Fighter freaks only.

MVP 07 is just a bit outside of being an impressive title. The Rock and Fire system is an excellent way of addressing pitching in a baseball game, but unfortunately the multiplayer complication keeps it from becoming an exceptional feature for this year. As for some of the other changes to the gameplay, MVP 07 is one of those games that PS2 owners will definitely like, but the age of the engine and limited improvements on the overall product will hopefully push this game over to the next gen systems where it will really shine.

World Series of Poker: Tournament of Champions easily ranks amongst the best videogame poker titles out there, and depending on what you're looking for, may indeed be the best. Its AI is generally very solid, the presentation is all-around great (even if the animations don't match the bet amount in any way), and it's set up in an easy to play manner. If you're looking for a good poker title, definitely check this one out. Editor's Note: Chris Roper's closing comments pertain to the multi-console versions, and were written pre-Wii release.

NFL Street 3 is a fun title that is trying to stretch the series in a few new directions, and for the most part, it succeeds. The inclusion of new game types helps players who¿ve outgrown the older street events, and removing Gamebreakers from the cutscene format is a definite improvement for in-game strategy. However, some of the other facets of the game, like the mildly augmented aerial system and recycled visual format may make some players feel like they¿ve played this game before.

Rally Cross can be a reasonably fun game if you spend enough time to really learn the courses and get into the game. You need to came at it with a good and open attitude however as it's largely unforgiving, especially at the start. The lack of multiplayer is disappointing as it would certainly be fun, and manual racers need not apply.

Mario Kart 64 arrived in America almost exactly 10 years ago, and the fans found it immediately. The game was a phenomenal sales success for Nintendo, selling over a million copies in just its first two months on the market, and paving the way for more great multiplayer games (like GoldenEye) to come later that same year. If you never owned an original Kart cartridge, consider this download. But if you've still got the old N64, four dust-covered controllers and the game itself sitting in a closet somewhere, do some digging. This re-release comes close to capturing the full spirit of the original version, but playing it old-school remains superior.

Sonic the Hedgehog is a wonderful classic game to have holding down a spot in your Wii's array of channels. The only thing that should hold you back is your own personal history with the title – you may be one of the millions who've already played this game to death over the years, or you may already own it in another form. This Sonic has made encore appearances in Sonic Mega Collection on the GameCube, Sonic Mega Collection Plus on the PS2 and Xbox, Sega Genesis Collection on the PS2 ... the list goes on and on. So check your last-gen library, check your sense of nostalgia, check to make sure you don't still have your old Genesis hooked up to AV port 3, collecting dust behind your entertainment center, and then feel free to jump back in. It's still fun to run in Sonic's shoes, even after 16 years.
