But with only forty different micro challenges and an underwhelming virtual pet experience, Arthur and the Invisibles isn't as satisfying a game as it could have been. The difficulty curve definitely rises at a decent rate to make sure you don't blow through the entire game in an hour...but you can definitely do it in two or three. It's, at the very least, an acceptable buy for a trip to grandma's at a budget price.

Lethal Alliance might have a cool concept to build off of, but it's hard to ignore that the design created for this engaging tale is poorly constructed. It's extremely rigid and straightforward, and the game does way too much hand-holding during the action. The only time players will find themselves stuck in a level will be due awful tutorials rather than challenging gameplay. Star Wars has had a rough journey on the Nintendo DS, and Lethal Alliance doesn't do anything to change that path.

Discriminating gamers of the 16-bit days may argue that the SNES Kirby's Avalanche is a superior representation of the Puyo Puyo puzzler design. But the differences between it and Dr. Robotnik's Genesis edition aren't major or important enough that fans should skip this. Go ahead and grab it, puzzle people.

Just like the console version of the game, the concept of Blitz: Overtime sounds like an excellent one: transferring everything from the console version of Blitz to the PSP with a few new teams and features sounds like a great thing to take with you on the go. Unfortunately, without any fixes being made on the title, it's practically the same game with the same problems, and the included technical issues with slowdown, loading times and other glitches don't help it either. If you're a hardcore Blitz fan, you'll probably dismiss these issues, but otherwise, you'll find it to be a much better experience on the console than on the handheld.

The PC version of Star Trek Legacy is among the most disappointing games of the year. Putting aside any expectations you might have with regard to the Star Trek license or any past associations with games like Starfleet Command, Klingon Academy or Bridge Commander, Star Trek Legacy simply cannot stand on its own as an entertaining or satisfying experience. The poor control scheme and unreliable AI combine with overly long missions and the absence of a save system to make the game one long exercise in frustration. On the plus side, fans of the Star Trek franchise will definitely appreciate the visuals, sounds and story elements. Legacy hits the right spots here, faithfully bringing the various series of Star Trek to the PC in a very convincing, consistent manner. In the end, however, the license is all this game has going for it.

Harley-Davidson: Race to the Rally feels like it was designed by folks who didn't really care or didn't really understand what would make a racing game fun, or even competently done. This feels like a quick demo for a game that was never finished and never will be. Seeing the boost effect is cool for a few seconds when you think you're going to be playing some fast and crazy racer, but really it's just fast. Fast and dumb and not worthy of your time.

2K Sport created a very impressive game... on the Xbox 360. College Hoops 2K7 on the PS2 is more of a cut-and-paste job of 2K6, with virtually identical graphics and sound. A few nice control tweaks like the jump stop doesn't add anything fresh, however. While the presentation, Legacy and online play are all great, 2K7 feels more like a roster update. It's a great value if you don't have 2K6 and love college hoops. If you do own College Hoops, you may just want to update your rosters.

Charlotte's Web, the book, is an undeniable classic. Kids have been reading it for over half a century, and likely still will be half a century from now. Charlotte's Web, the game, is not destined for such a grand legacy. It's a fair platformer, but its protagonist pig isn't very capable or compelling to play as. The level design, too, lacks variety – there never were a lot of scenery changes in E.B. White's original story. If you or your kids still feel drawn to making a purchase, go for the DS version. It's more fully featured than its GBA counterpart, and will remain entertaining for longer. But also consider saving the 30 bucks on the game, and spending eight dollars instead on the book that started it all. If there's a young boy or girl in your life who hasn't yet experienced it, they deserve the chance to see what over 50 years of fuss is all about.

The core system of getting cards, sorting them out, making decks, and battling is lovely and smooth. The rest of, well, everything, is clunky and mishandled. As an extra special kick there's no online play. So whoop-de-do you're stuck in one of the most blah places on earth begging another guy to fight so that you can watch as brainless robots combat each other. Maybe this will led to a better game in the future.

The Solomon franchise hasn't been heard from in quite a while – its most recent release was the re-branded GBC port Monster Rancher Explorer, released over six years ago. The unique and challenging combination of platforming and puzzle elements contained inside this Key is something you don't get to see in gaming anymore – that, and the fact that this game is Tecmo's sole representation in the Wii Shop for the time being, makes this download a stand-out among the NES Virtual Console lineup.

Super Star Soldier is the sole shooter so far on the Wii's Virtual Console, and Hudson's decision to include it in their first batch of TurboGrafx games was a wise one. The game holds up well after over a decade and a half, and it's likely to find an all-new audience of fans that missed out on its original release years ago. If you like jumping into the cockpit of games like R-Type or Gradius, hop in and give this lesser-known ship a spin.

Playing it safe in your game design can lead to a fun title, but will never result in a classic. Victory Run is a fair rally racer that is still fun to play, but just isn't all that remarkable in any aspect. Fans of the genre can play it safe themselves and resist downloading this one, as other, more classic racing titles will be available on the service in the year to come. Those wanting an immediate 16-bit solution to their need for speed would do well to look toward Nintendo's SNES effort, F-Zero.
