After more than a decade and a half of these things, it would be understandable to grow sick of the formula over the countless iterations. Heck, one wonders what the rate of burn out is like for the creative minds at Omega Force. Yet, they always manage to tweak the formula, adding and subtracting elements each time, leading to interesting results. This philosophy can be seen in Samurai Warriors: Spirit of Sanada. It is obvious that the same engine from the last Samurai Warriors game is being used, but it really does feel like a fresh, focused take on the Musou series.

Samurai Warriors: Spirit of Sanada es un spin-off que viene a satisfacer a los fans del género. Las novedades que trae lo hacen bastante interesante, e incluso para aquellos que no son seguidores de este tipo de juegos; ya que la mejor realización del contexto histórico y el trasfondo de los personajes lo convierten en un juego con algo más que ofrecer que simples batallas. A esto contribuyen la mayor variedad de actividades, y unas batallas mejor planteadas. Pero salvo por estos detalles, sigue siendo un juego muy continuista, que no pretende revolucionar el género, ni la franquicia a la que pertenece, por lo que tampoco se trata de un producto brillante.

Samurai Warriors: Spirit of Sanada è un classico Musou focalizzato sulla narrazione, dal sapore epico e dal forte impatto emotivo. La longevità più che discreta (attorno alle 30 ore) ha però il difetto di diluire lo sviluppo della trama all’interno di un mare battaglie spesso uguali a sé stesse e inutili ai fini della storia. È un gioco che piacerà agli amanti del genere e che offre uno sguardo più profondo del solito sui protagonisti dell’epica del Giappone feudale. Il doppiaggio esclusivamente in giapponese farà felici i nippofili, mentre i sottotitoli in lingua inglese lo renderanno di difficile accesso ai non anglofoni.

Samurai Warriors : Spirit of Sanada ne restera pas dans les mémoires pour avoir fait évoluer un genre. A l’exception de quelques nouveautés de gameplay, le titre de Koei Tecmo recycle la recette du parfait Musô, mais le fait avec panache. A noter l’approche intimiste d’un scénario centré sur le clan Sanada et par effet de bord cette proximité qui s’établit avec cette poignée de héros. L’amour sans fin d’OMEGA Force pour les joutes en 1vs1000 est indéniable tout comme la générosité de ce studio qui assure le show, à défaut de révolutionner le marché du Beat’em All. Et la technique confirme ce manque de prise de risque. En réutilisant le moteur de son prédécesseur, Spirit of Sanada se prive d’avancées techniques majeures et se contente d’ajustements louables, mais insuffisants en 2017.

Samurai Warriors: Spirit of Sanada si pone per certi versi come una variazione sul tema dei tradizionali musou, concentrandosi narrativamente sulle sorti di un'unica famiglia anziché su diversi condottieri, introducendo gradevoli meccaniche gestionali con tanto di minigame e puntando su missioni caratterizzate da fasi multiple e condizioni di vittoria e sconfitta spesso stringenti, che obbligano a un approccio ragionato piuttosto che alla classica carica a testa bassa. Nel mezzo dell'azione, sul campo di battaglia, da soli contro migliaia di avversari, il gameplay rimane però sempre il solito: un button masher ripetitivo e privo di spessore, ancora in attesa di una ormai doverosa evoluzione.

Samurai Warriors: Spirit of Sanada es la última muestra de desgaste de un género que, pese a introducir pequeñas variables, no cambia su columna vertebral desde hace décadas. En esta ocasión al menos tendremos la sensación de estar presenciando una preciada lección de Historia de Japón gracias al protagonismo del Clan Sanada, lo que incluso justifica este spin-off por delante de entregas principales de la rama principal de Samurai Warriors.

Samurai Warriors: Spirit of Sanada apporte un véritable plus, celui de nous faire découvrir toute l’histoire du clan Sanada avec de sympathiques cinématiques doublées en japonais et une possibilité d’effectuer toutes les plus grandes batailles. Le titre n’est pas vraiment avare en contenu et ceux souhaitant réussir les très nombreux objectifs secondaires en auront pour leur argent. Il y a de quoi faire, l’exploration de la ville, de l’environnement et les mini-jeux restent simples en soi mais c’est toujours une feature qui permet de rajouter de quoi faire. Néanmoins, il est clair que lorsque l’on a fait les Samurai Warriors IV et leurs spin-off, on ne peut s’empêcher de voir plus ou moins le même jeu mais avec une autre approche… Au-delà de ça, ce Spirit of Sanada reste franchement sympathique avec un gameplay offrant un bon défouloir ! Néanmoins, on aurait aimé pouvoir jouer à deux avec un ami en écran scindé et
