Rise Of Iron è probabilmente la miglior espansione di Destiny per quanto riguarda la qualità dei contenuti: campagna PvE immersiva ed artisticamente al top, progresso del giocatore ben strutturato, e un'incursione che ad oggi rappresenta l'apice della produzione. Certo, era forse lecito aspettarsi qualche azzardo o innovazione, piuttosto che la proposta di una struttura già vincente e amata dai fan. Ma contando che questa sarà con ogni probabilità l'ultimo DLC prima del nuovo corso del brand, Rise of Iron va considerato un ottimo lascito e un atto d'amore nei confronti di una community che non ha mai smesso di popolare l'universo di Destiny. In attesa di scoprire quale futuro Bungie immagina per il suo Shooter, godiamoci le gesta dei Signori Del Ferro, visto che tanti sono ancora i segreti da scovare e le attività da scoprire. L'arrivo delle Prove di Osiride, del livello Hard dell'incursione, ed il ritorno della Sparrow Racing League ci terranno impegnati anche nei prossimi mesi.

I Signori del Ferro è l'ultima espansione di Destiny prima del lancio del sequel in arrivo nel 2017. Si tratta di un DLC che esplora la mitologia dei Signori del Ferro, ma lo fa in modo forse troppo frettoloso e sommario, risultando fin troppo breve nella risoluzione degli eventi. Nonostante la presenza di una fra le incursioni più belle mai create da Bungie e di una nuova modalità nel Crogiolo, questo DLC è caratterizzato da una ripetitività di fondo che grava sugli utenti sopratutto nella fase iniziale, quella che richiede il grinding per poter accedere alle attività endgame PvP e PvE, come le Prove di Osiride, lo Stendardo di Ferro o la stessa incursione Furia Meccanica. Bungie avrebbe potuto fare sicuramente di più a fronte di un prezzo importante, 30 euro, che ricordiamo è di poco inferiore a quello della precedente espansione, la cui longevità era però impreziosita da numerose novità qui assenti. L'aggiunta delle Partite Private accontenta i fan del PvP e darà vita a tanti eventi personalizzati in futuro, ma gli appassionati del PvE potrebbero trovarsi inesorabilmente a bocca asciutta nel giro di poche settimane.

Los Señores del Hierro es una expansión para Destiny que nos ha dejado algo fríos. No consigue ofrecer nada especialmente destacable o inspirado, ni tampoco una cantidad de contenidos a la altura de lo visto en la anterior expansión del juego, por lo que no quedamos contentos con el trabajo de Bungie en esta ocasión. Sigue siendo un juego divertido, capaz de engancharnos un buen puñado de horas, pero a estas alturas esperábamos que la desarrolladora de Seattle siguiera evolucionando en su fórmula de mundo compartido, y no conformándose casi únicamente con seguir estirando el chicle de Destiny.

Rise of Iron is a rather pedestrian expansion to what has become a pretty great first-person shooter. If you're looking for more Destiny, then you can't go wrong by picking it up, but nothing here will convince lapsed players to come back. It's simply more of the same, but that's fine.

Destiny has come a long way over the last two years, and this expansion shows it. What began with a wide-open world that relied on random rewards and repetition of the same, limited number of activities has become a well-rounded experience that gives players a wide array of options for growth. With Rise of Iron, developer Bungie has succeeded by doing more than just stacking new, exciting stuff into the game. It makes the entire game better. Where earlier expansions felt like isolated modules attached alongside the existing Destiny experience, Rise of Iron does an impressive job of weaving all of the aforementioned new content into the existing environment and making the entire Destiny experience feel broader, not just one corner of it.

I Signori del Ferro è una "major" expansion che, a 360° gradi, non regge il confronto con il precedente DLC Il Re dei Corrotti, fosse anche solo per dimensioni. Una modalità storia più breve che mai e una narrazione fallace sono deboli pilastri su cui poggiano i contenuti più interessanti. Anche la Forgia dell'Arconte è poca cosa allo stato attuale e a risollevare il tutto c'è un raid dinamico e molto gustoso, arricchito da un set di equip ispirato. Meno ispirata è però, a tutto tondo, la verve artistica dell'espansione, con nemici mediocri e una nuova ambientazione che non brilla per originalità. La sensazione è che quasi ogni idea contenga del forte riciclo da quanto fatto di buono in passato e che sia la mole sia la qualità dei contenuti non siano eccezionali. Si tratta, come sempre, di un add on praticamente obbligatorio per i fedelissimi del gioco, che sapranno comunque trovare pane per i loro denti, ma I Signori del Ferro non riporterà su Destiny chi non aveva già intenzione di farlo.

Rise of Iron has just enough new content to keep me coming back for a while, but it feels like the bare minimum. When I wasn’t absentmindedly grinding against reskinned enemies until I couldn’t do it anymore, I was falling down the rabbit hole of side quests and trying out new weapons while patrolling the Plaguelands. The satisfying but still not groundbreaking raid is a decent reward at the end. I wish this expansion had focused more on fixing Destiny’s repetition problems, because it has a few good ideas — but with all its pitfalls, this is just Destiny going through the motions.

Les Seigneurs de Fer dispose d'un nouveau contenu tout juste suffisant pour me pousser à me replonger dans l'aventure Destiny pendant un moment, mais c'est bien là le strict minimum. Quand je ne grindais pas distraitement des hordes d'ennemis reskinés, je me surprenais à effectuer les quêtes secondaires et tester mon nouvel arsenal tout en parcourant la Contrée infestée. Le raid proposé, satisfaisant mais loin d'être révolutionnaire, constitue quant à lui une récompense finale décente. J'aurais vraiment aimé que cette extension se concentre davantage sur la correction des problèmes liés au caractère répétitif de Destiny, parce que certaines des idées proposées sont franchement bonnes - mais avec tous ces défauts, on se retrouve finalement face à une très légère variation de la formule Destiny tout juste acceptable.

Destiny: Rise of Iron is a big step back from The Taken King. While The Taken King was willing to push Destiny forward with brand new ideas, features, and a ton of new content, Rise of Iron is perfectly fine with recycling what has been run into the ground. Whether that be the mission design that turned so many people against the game back in 2014, the reskinned enemies, or the lack of new Strikes, Rise of Iron feels more like a recycled experience than an entirely new one. That’s not to say Rise of Iron isn’t fun, as the underlying game mechanics that convinced people to stick around for so long are still there, and new Raid is superb enough to keep players going. Those that are already in love with Destiny will no doubt forgive Rise of Iron’s shortcomings and dig into the content, but for those on the sidelines, or are waiting for the right opportunity to fall in love with Destiny, Rise of Iron is a skippable experience that can be overlooked until the inevitable full-on sequel.
