Als fan van het eerste uur heb ik me prima vermaakt met deze remaster. Capcom voorziet de game van zowel een nieuwe lik verf als handige quality of life-upgrades, waardoor je weer even helemaal in dat ouderwetse avontuur kunt duiken. Toch is deze game denk ik niet voor iedereen geschikt. Dat hangt af van je tolerantie voor retro gameplay met een lik moderne verf. De game staat nog steeds als een huis, maar grafisch is het geen hoogvlieger en de ouderwetse cameratrucjes zijn soms flink onhandig. Wel voelt deze remaster véél beter dan die van deel één. Eindelijk autosaves, skippable cutscenes en on-the-fly wapenwissels. Capcom heeft hier écht gekeken naar wat er beter kon. Toch blijft het een remaster. Geen remake à la Resident Evil 2 of 4, die voor mij nog steeds de gouden standaard zijn. Jammer dat Capcom die aanpak niet op Onimusha heeft losgelaten. Maar goed, Way of the Sword komt eraan, dus de hoop leeft.

The Precinct è uno di quei giochi che pur privi di difetti eclatanti neanche brilla particolarmente. In nessun momento mi sono davvero trovato a entusiasmarmi per qualche trovata o evento, ma neanche ho visto elementi che mi hanno scandalizzato o annoiato davvero. Dignitoso, senza diventare eccellente, è comunque un buon passatempo e una versione alternativa di Grand Theft Auto in cui si è nei panni di un poliziotto, anziché di un criminale; mi sentirei di consigliarlo più che altro a chi trova affascinante l'attività di tutore dell'ordine in un mondo aperto, anche se non enorme, o a chi desidera provare la sensazione di stare dalla parte della polizia in un "GTA in versione ridotta".

The Midnight Walk è un'esperienza che vale sicuramente la pena di vivere, con o senza VR. In primo piano c'è il suo valore artistico, che passa attraverso un design eccezionale e la straordinaria manifattura dei modellini in argilla, scansionati e animati a passo uno. È impossibile non citare anche il lavoro sul sonoro, con alcune delle tracce più belle che ci sia capitato di ascoltare di recente, e in generale un'attenzione unica per tutto il comparto audio composto da sussurri e versi di ogni tipo. Alcune meccaniche ludiche potrebbero risultare fin troppo semplici, ma il titolo di MoonHood è più della somma delle sue parti, e nelle 5-6 ore necessarie a portarlo a termine, racconta una storia importante sul calore. Non solo quello del sole, ma anche quello dell'empatia e della comprensione degli altri.

Deliver at All Costs apuesta todo a la carta del caos y la diversión inmediata, y aunque logra momentos realmente únicos y desquiciados, su mayor virtud también es su principal debilidad: la sorpresa jugable se agota pronto. Con una propuesta que brilla en las primeras horas pero pierde fuelle al extenderse más allá de lo que su premisa puede sostener, el nuevo trabajo de Far Out Games se siente más como una locura puntual que como una experiencia duradera. No busca trascender ni reinventar el medio, solo entretener sin pretensiones... y a ratos, lo consigue con creces.

Deliver At All Costs Se amate i titoli che fanno della originalità e della follia i propri tratti distintivi, non abbiamo dubbi che amerete Deliver At All Costs. L'esordio di Studio Far Out Games è un titolo d'azione tanto divertente quanto assurdo, in grado di combinare situazioni imprevedibili ad una storia misteriosa, sullo sfondo di un'ambientazione da fare a pezzi grazie ad una interattività incredibile. Un prodotto orgogliosamente diverso dalla massa, che dimostra ancora una volta come il futuro del settore forse dovrebbe puntare più ad intriganti filosofie di game design, rispetto ai canti ammalianti e rischiosi dei grandi budget. Deliver At All Costs’ greatest strength is its ability to reinvent itself, but its missions lack tension and its story is a bit of a misfire. If you really enjoy that isometric era of GTA games, then you’ll find fun in this physics-heavy escapade – but expect bumps and blemishes, because this is far from the perfect package.

Blades of Fire’s blacksmithing burns bright, but it doesn’t forge a sharp enough edge to put its customizable weapons to good use. The combat is serviceable but overly simplistic, and the mediocre story often failed to evoke any kind of emotion in me at all, positive or negative, as it just goes through the motions from start to finish. The unintuitive map also frequently left me running in circles, making what could have been a fun hunt for secrets feel more like a chore. And when those pain points are compounded by unflattering comparisons to the games it so clearly took inspiration from, Blades of Fire just can’t cut it.

Gemessen an der gigantischen Größe von Blades of Fire und dem Spaß, den seine einzigartigen Elemente ins traditionelle Action-Adventure einbringen, sind derartige Probleme in der Spielerführung aber eher nachrangiger Natur. Überwiegend kommt man in Blades of Fire sehr gut voran, ist neugierig auf das, was nach der nächsten Leiter auf einen wartet – und manchmal sogar ein bisschen nervös. Siege über (Mini-)Bosse fühlen sich verdient und lohnend an und das Freischalten und Schmieden neuer Waffen ist wahnsinnig motivierend. Sogar das Minispiel dazu ist gut gelöst. Dass sich meine Schöpfungen selbst farblich, je nach Wahl des Stahls der einzelnen Komponenten, unterscheiden und ich ihnen einen Namen geben darf, lässt mich nur noch tiefer in die Fantasie eintauchen, ein mit allen Wassern gewaschener Meisterschmied zu sein. Das ist in der Form einzigartig. Überhaupt spürte ich noch nie einen so großen Drang, verschiedene Waffenarten auszuprobieren, wie in Blades of Fire. Wenn ein Spiel es schafft, einen stoischen Schweinskopf wie mich aus meiner Komfortzone zu locken, dann hat es definitiv etwas richtig gemacht. Womit wir wieder beim Anfang wären: Bis vor Kurzem wusste ich nicht, was Blade of Fire ist. Und ich denke, ich bin nicht der einzige, dem das so ging. Es müsste mit dem Teufel zugehen, wenn das so bliebe. Cooles Spiel!
