The late[st] and one of the great[est] efforts from the developers behind Melty Blood: Actress Again and Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax, Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late[st] is a solid update. If you're new to the series, this is a great place to start.

Under Night In-Birth Exe: Late[st] brings new additions to the table, but doesn’t offer massive improvements over the games that came before it. It’s very much a reminder of a bygone era where an incremental upgrade led to a “new” entry in a series, but this does at least include quality of life improvements thanks to the overhauled storyline presentation. Anyone who has a prior version of the game will know what they’re getting into here, while newcomers should have a blast if they enjoy a faster-paced Guilty Gear-style affair.

Qu'il est agréabe de retrouver UNIEL ! Certes le jeu n'a pas évolué d'un iota, visuellement, depuis l'ère PlayStation 3 et on peut le regretter, mais les sensations en jeu sont tellement plaisantes qu'on pardonne vite cet écueil. Toujours aussi dynamique, toujours aussi pêchu, le jeu s'enrichit de manière significative avec l'ajout de quelques personnages et l'arrivée du système Veil Off. Si vous étiez accro à la licence, cet épisode est un incontournable si vous n'aviez jamais touché à la série, c'est peut-être le meilleur moment pour vous y mettre. Un jeu à posséder absolument si vous cherchez à sortir des sentiers battus.

Under Night In-Birth Exe: Late[st] è un picchiaduro che, in quanto a gameplay, poggia su solidissime basi ed è in grado di proporre un tasso di sfida davvero degno di nota. Nonostante offra un grande aiuto ai neofiti, il gioco dà il meglio di sé solo se si riescono a padroneggiare appieno i ritmi convulsi e concitati del combat system. La grafica bidimensionale e il character design tipicamente nipponico sono un valore aggiunto o un trascurabile difetto, a seconda dei vostri gusti. In ogni caso, siamo di fronte a un picchiaduro realizzato con cura e che merita senza dubbio una possibilità se siete appassionati del genere.

Under Night In-Birth Late[st] is the complete package for fighting game fans, with the visual novel-like story being the only potential let down for anyone that isn’t used to how Arc System Works do things. It’s even worth buying, despite the excellent recent fighting game releases, because the combo flexibility and accessibility for both experienced and inexperienced fighting game fans are fairly unique even among fighters.

Los fans de la lucha tienen una muy buena opción en esta producción de Arc System Works. Su sistema de combate es accesible, profundo y repleto de posibilidades, siendo esto lo mejor que ofrece, ya que por otro lado sus 20 combatientes no son demasiados, ni tampoco es que estemos ante un título sorprendente en su parcela audiovisual. Si esto no es problema, además cuenta con una amplia variedad de modos de juego que prometen ampliar la vida útil del juego de una manera excelente.

Si son absence de véritable mode histoire et son relatif manque de contenu font tâche, Under Night In-Birth EXE : Late[st] est toutefois un très bon jeu de baston. Grisant, le titre de FRENCH-BREAD et Arc System Works est à la fois accessible aux néophytes et suffisamment complexe pour convenir aux puristes du genre. Et si son aspect visuel n’a rien de bien extraordinaire, ne vous y trompez pas : vous n’aurez pas le temps d’y prêter attention tant les affrontements sont dynamiques. Dommage que cette édition dite améliorée n’apporte finalement de remarquable que quatre nouveaux personnages, bien que ces derniers soient effectivement sympathiques, et que son mode Chronicles soit aux antipodes de ce que l’on attend de l’option scénario d’un jeu de combat. Quoi qu’il en soit, si vous cherchez une alternative survitaminée à BlazBlue, vous avez frappé à la bonne porte.

Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late[st] should satisfy fans of the fighting genre, if they are willing to look past its flaws and spend time perfecting the art of combat for the game's sometimes shaky online mode. As a single player experience, it is well-suited for a couple of friends to pass the time thanks to being fun and accessible.

Under Night In-Birth EXE Late[st] est une version améliorée de celle sortie sur PS3 il y a quelques années. On y trouve toujours la même jouabilité addictive, facile à appréhender et complexe à maîtriser, bien que peu de nouveautés soient de la partie de ce côté là. Pour du neuf, il faudra se tourner vers les nouveaux personnages et une accessibilité accrue dans les modes d'entraînement, avec un tutoriel et un défi combo très travaillés. Le reste des modes de jeux est très classique mais efficace, et le jeu reste encore plutôt joli, même s'il commence à faire pâle figure face à la concurrence. Under Night In-Birth à donc dans sa besace de solides éléments pour convaincre les fanatiques de la baston, et encore plus s'ils étaient passé à côté du titre auparavant.

Under Night In-Birth EXE: Late (ST) is a deep and complex fighting game which gives players the tools to learn and master its systems and mechanics. The game however, is showing its age with ugly level design and boring menus. Whilst gameplay should come first, there are other fighters out there that are more of a complete package.
