Etrian Mystery Dungeon continues the streak of great Etrian titles. The shake-up in gameplay doesn't rattle the game too much for die-hard fans and will give them exactly what they want, while giving people unfamiliar with the franchise, a good entry level introduction.

Etrian Mystery Dungeon is a crossover that should not have worked. On paper, it's ugly, cumbersome, and for all intents and purposes, a head-scratching marriage where one-half of the pairing is nowhere near as popular as the other. And yet, for as unappealing as it may have been in theory, it works wonderfully. It's not just a combining of two franchise's famed mechanics and features; it has ideas of its own, unique onto it, that simply transcend the mere mash-up formula. It's an RPG steeped in strong mechanics, and despite being part of a genre known for its overwhelming -- and for some, off-putting -- difficulty, has figured out a way to make that precipitous level of challenge accessible and rewarding all the same. Anyone looking to spend a solid 40+ hours on a roguelike should look no further than this.

Etrian Mystery Dungeon è un gioco che fa sentire quasi in colpa. Quando si batte un boss per il rotto della cuffia e ci si rende conto di non esserselo meritato, vien quasi voglia di ricaricare la partita e riprovare. Il gioco, d'altra parte, salva in punti strategici, praticamente di nascosto, proprio per impedire ai furbacchioni di non farsi scrupoli. Quello di Spike Chunsoft è un roguelike brutale che regala enormi soddisfazioni anche e soprattutto ai fan di Etrian Odyssey che, abituati a soffrire in prima persona, finalmente vedranno i loro personaggi in tutto il loro poligonale e coloratissimo splendore.

Si vous avez aimé Pokemon Donjon Mystère, qui est surement le titre qui parle le plus aux joueurs pour ce genre de jeu, Etrian Mystery Dungeon vous plaira surement. Le challenge est plus qu’au rendez-vous-même si ce style pourra rebuter les gamers moins « hard core ». Si l’on constate quelques défauts, ce que l’on retient au final c’est que le jeu reprend le meilleur d’Etrian Odyssey et de Mystery Dungeon pour nous proposer quelque chose de très bon.

Etrian Mistery Dungeon es la perfecta comunión de dos grandes géneros. Si bien es un juego con algunas carencias argumentales, la imagen toma un mayor protagonismo, será esta su ventaja, ya que los (no traducidos) textos en inglés no tendrán mucho peso en el hilo argumental. Para los puristas de ambos géneros se presenta como una versión algo simplona e infantil de ambos, pero los mas jóvenes disfrutarán de sus graciosos movimientos y servirá como excusa para adentrarse en este tipo de aventuras sin mucho quebradero de cabeza.

Etrian Mystery Dungeon is a fun little strategy RPG that will surely satisfy gamers who enjoy mental taxation and heavy frustration on the go. The complicated gameplay harks back to the simple roots of the Mystery Dungeon series. The basic presentation may not interest gamers looking for a more flashy, visually stimulating experience such as "Xenoblade Chronicles,” but it does offer a unique RPG experience that, once learned, can be just as engaging and stimulating as any of the top budget games on the 3DS. I recommend this game to anyone who can appreciate playing a long and thought provoking game of chess, even if it ends with you losing to your opponent.

En combinant les deux valeurs sûres du dungeon-RPG à la japonaise que sont Etrian Odyssey et Mystery Dungeon (Shiren the Wanderer), cet Etrian Mystery Dungeon réussit à établir une formule suffisamment efficace pour donner du fil à retordre aux joueurs coutumiers du genre. Cela ne l'empêche pas non plus d'introduire des idées bien à lui à travers la notion de forts par exemple, mais il est probable que son austérité risque de laisser les néophytes sur le carreau.
