With a more colorful and stylized look than the previous game, a new part-time job system, and a revised, more strategic approach to tool upgrades, Trio of Towns is a welcoming, forgiving, and addicting game. One of the biggest Boku games yet, Trio of Towns is loaded with characters, features, and objects to unlock, and is a must-have for fans of life down on the farm.

Story of Seasons: A Trio of Towns can start off a bit slow, but it picks up rather quickly after the first week or two. Between raising crops and livestock, improving friendships, and starting relationships, there’s no shortage of things to do and the game will help make sure you know how to do it all. Newcomers to the series and veterans alike should enjoy this entry in the long-running franchise.

Fans of this series have absolutely no reason to ignore Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns. It continues to improve upon the Bokujo Monogatari formula in smart ways as well as retain the core concepts which fans love. Those who really need to take a look at this game are those who have for whatever reason never played one in the past. Or perhaps they’ve played one of the last few Harvest Moon games from Natsume. If you found any enjoyment with those titles then you’ll absolutely want to jump on the Story of Seasons bandwagon. With an outrageous amount of content, tons of characters and freedom to manage your farm as you see fit, few will be able to resist the allure of Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns.

Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns is more of the same classic simulator that has been around since the SNES. A few minor additions put this iteration near the top of my Story of Seasons / Bokujō Monogatari rankings but the lack of innovation keeps it from raising the bar.

I found myself thinking about my daily farming routine in Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns even when I wasn't playing it. Since there's never any feeling of the grim spectre of Father Time looming large and there are enough random events to shake up the daily routine, doing my virtual chores in these charming and beautiful towns and unlocking a steady stream of rewards is relaxing, despite some annoyances with unnecessary travel and unskippable animations. And since the only requirement of Trio of Towns is to prove that farm life is a noble life, the pressure to succeed is never daunting.

Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns es la conmemoración de veinte años de Harvest Moon, y lo hace con una entrega muy digna de la saga. Es un juego con una mecánica muy familiar para quienes ya hayan jugado antes, y que cuenta con un tutorial mucho mejor medido que en su anterior entrega para aquellos que se acerquen por primera vez a un juego de estas características. Quizá engañe un poco su aspecto infantil, pero es un título que puede dar horas de diversión a cualquier tipo de jugador. Además nos permite jugar durante periodos de juego cortos sin ser tan exigente en ese sentido como otras entregas de Harvest Moon. Podemos perfectamente jugar media hora para recolectar minerales o regar nuestros cultivos sin que el ritmo se resienta. La frescura que aporta el contar con diferentes ciudades con su gentes y sus características hace además que esta sea una de las mejores entregas de Harvest Moon en estos veinte años.

Story of Seasons : Trio of Towns se veut être l’amélioration du premier opus sorti en 2015, et une sacrée avancée avec la saga Harvest Moon, a qui il fait un joli pied-de-nez sur le plan du gameplay. Techniquement maîtrisé, il propose assez de simplicités pour améliorer son confort de jeu, et assez de contenu pour accrocher des heures durant. Sa courbe de progression un brin irrégulière lui nuit, mais il parvient à rebondir avec assez de panache pour qu’on ne laisse pas tomber, et c’est une force dont peu de jeux peuvent se vanter. Toujours axé sur le plaisir de jeu, il convaincra les anciens fans d’Harvest Moon ayant lâché l’affaire depuis un moment, et parviendra à séduire les débutants de par son charme et son contenu généreux. Si le studio continu sur cette lancée, nous ne doutons pas que Story of Seasons deviendra vite une grande licence dont Nintendo pourra être fier.

Moins innovant qu'il n'y paraît au premier abord, Trio of Towns apporte tout de même quelques idées bienvenues au sein d'un genre assez frileux sur la question du changement. Nous saluerons ainsi l'ajout des jobs d'intérim, suffisamment courts pour compenser un gameplay sommaire, mais qui ont le mérite d'apporter un soupçon de variété dans vos journées et d'avoir un impact intéressant sur vos parties. La présence de 3 villes contribue aussi à apporter plus de diversité dans les paysages explorés, bien que leur apport s'avère plus limité en dehors de ce point. Enfin, les mécaniques de jeux s'avèrent suffisamment denses et addictives pour justifier de se plonger une nouvelle fois pendant des dizaines d'heures au cœur de cette nouvelle mouture, malgré un démarrage très poussif. Moins surprenant que son prédécesseur, cet épisode ravira avant tout les fans acharnés de la série ou les joueurs intéressés par le concept et n'ayant pas posés leurs mains sur Story of Seasons premier du nom.

If you’re already a fan of the Story of Seasons series, or the genre that it has revolutionized in a number of ways, then Trio of Towns will certainly be exactly what you’re wanting out of it. If, however, you are coming at this from any other place, the game might not be worth playing unless you’re dying to try something new. The titular towns add some fun and variety, but with a detrimental opening tutorial section, and an overall lack of innovation and fun, the game can drag down significantly. It’s a worthy followup to its predecessors, but little else.

Story of Season avrebbe dovuto allietare le vacanze natalizie del sottoscritto, ma in realtà si è rivelato un titolo dalla scialba personalità. Le premesse erano convincenti: dopo oltre 20 anni di onorato servizio Marvelous aveva deciso di mandare in pensione la serie Harvest Moon, incaricando il medesimo team di sviluppo degli ultimi episodi di pensare ad un franchise simile ma differente. Alla prova dei fatti le differenze sono veramente risibili: le meccaniche innovative sono veramente poche, mentre sul fronte grafico e di interfaccia si nota addirittura una vena conservativa. Beninteso, Story of Season non è un prodotto dimenticabile solamente perché delude quanti si aspettavano un forte stacco rispetto alla precedenza esperienza con Harvest Moon, ma anche perchè presenta moltissimi elementi confusionari di gameplay, meccaniche convincenti sulla carta ma alquanto strambe all'atto pratico. Visto anche il successo di vendite oltreoceano, speriamo che il seguito annunciato poche ore fa possa svecchiare la formula ed introdurre le meccaniche che ci si aspettava da questo debutto.
