Si este Sonic sirve para empezar de nuevo y encaminar la saga, bienvenido sea. Pero se trata de un homenaje por el 20º Aniversario y buscar más allá de eso es baladí. Al menos, las melodías y los guiños al pasado brillan como sus anillos.

Nel bene e nel male chi ha amato la serie di Sonic ha sempre acquistato un suo capitolo senza mai pentirsene, cosa che mai come ora succederà anche con Sonic Generations, garantisce I Love Videogames. Si tratta del più che degno tributo alla difficile ma spassosa vita di Sonic, contenente tutto ciò che amano i vecchi fan e quello che ha fatto innamorare di Sonic i giocatori più giovani. Si tratta di un titolo che avrebbe sicuramente reso fiero Isao Okawa, il primo presidente di SEGA spentosi il 19/03/2001, che sognava di vedere la software house creata da lui fare grandi cose. Sonic Generations ne ripropone molte di quelle compiute in passato: da giocare almeno una volta a tutti i costi.

Sonic Generations svolge egregiamente l’oneroso compito di fungere da collante tra presente e passato, alternando una formula rodatissima e tradizionale ad una più coraggiosa e originale, per quanto non inedita. I due diversi approcci di gioco si alternano in maniera ineccepibile, quasi senza problemi, e la scarsa longevità della campagna è presto sopperita da numerosi contenuti extra che faranno gola alla nutrita schiera di fan là fuori. I nostalgici possono lasciare il Mega Drive a prendere la polvere ancora per un po’: Sonic Generations li porterà indietro nel tempo.

Whereas the console version of Sonic Generations is a blending of old and new mentality in a fast-paced speed fest, the 3DS version is mostly just a Sonic Rush game where both playable characters happen to be Sonic. Fun platforming and nostalgia are all up in the game, but it’s actually a small step backwards for handheld hedgehog games. That shouldn’t stop any blue blur fans from enjoying themselves, but this isn’t the Sonic renaissance they may have expected.

Sonic Generations is far from a bad game. This is coming from a non-Sonic fan and I genuinely enjoyed the title. However, I only enjoyed the new sections and that's not because I'm not a retro gamer; it's just the older ones feel quite rough around the edges. This is a game for long-time fans of the series.

On attendait de Sonic Generations qu'il nous comble après une version HD qui nous avait laissés sur notre faim. C'est, hélas, loin d'être le cas. Si cette anthologie, qui offre une sélection de niveaux particulièrement judicieuse, se laisse parcourir sans déplaisir, elle ne restera pas dans les mémoires. La faute à des phases rétro et modernes pas assez différenciées, ainsi qu'à un level design peu inspiré et parfois maladroit. Qui plus est, la maigreur de l'aventure principale n'est guère compensée par les nombreux à-côtés, qui ne sont pas tous du plus haut intérêt. Reste une réalisation agréable et un fan-service omniprésent, qui inciteront sans doute les fans à craquer pour cet épisode commémoratif dispensable.
