Rayman Legends Definitive Edition es la excusa perfecta para todos aquellos que aún no hayan jugado a este clásico de las plataformas en dos dimensiones. Una auténtica maravilla jugable y una delicia audiovisual. Contenido para dar y regalar, aunque se echan en falta unos cuantos extras más que den un poco de vidilla a esta edición definitiva. No obstante, es un juego divertido, accesible y a la vez exigente. Y si ya lo has jugado anteriormente y posees una Nintendo Switch, es igualmente un imprescindible en tu colección. Apostar por Rayman Legends es apostar al caballo ganador.

a noticia no es que Rayman Legends sea la edición definitiva, puesto que aporta más bien poco con respecto a anteriores versiones del juego. Más bien, lo importante es que llega a Nintendo Switch para deleite de aquellos que aún no lo hayan jugado. Para ellos, esto es un "must-have" plataformeros que podemos recomendar con contundencia. Largo, con reto, gracioso, variado… Y ahora con la posibilidad de jugarlo tanto en la pantalla del salón como en un viaje en transporte público. Si no lo tenías, es la mejor opción.

Che Rayman Legends sia un gioco eccezionale lo abbiamo già detto nelle recensioni delle versioni precedenti e lo ribadiamo per quel che riguarda questa Definitive Edition, che non può mancare nella collezione di un qualunque possessore di Switch con un minimo di interesse per il mondo dei plafform. Certo è che forse si poteva fare qualcosina di più per rendere ancor più appetibile un prodotto uscito comunque quattro anni fa e disponibile praticamente su tutte le piattaforme, magari aggiungendo qualche contenuto di rilievo o puntando a un prezzo più accattivante. Insomma, Rayman Legends: Definitive Edition magari avrà un nome fin troppo altisonante per quello che offre realmente, ma rimane un platform come ce ne sono davvero pochi in giro.

La versione Switch di Rayman Legends si guadagna a pieno titolo i galloni di Definitive Edition proponendo un’esperienza che, pur mancando di reali novità sul fronte contenutistico, sfrutta in maniera eccellente le peculiarità della nuova console ibrida di Nintendo, tanto da confermarsi come la migliore incarnazione del titolo di Ubisoft Montpellier. A prescindere dall’eccezionale qualità del platformer di Ancel, i punti forti di questo port sono lo specchio delle caratteristiche che fanno la forza del nuovo hardware della grande N, e confluiscono in una versatilità ludica senza eguali. È difficile stabilire che, al prezzo di 39,99 euro, Rayman Legends: Definitive Edition sia un acquisto irrinunciabile per i veterani del titolo, ma siamo certi che saranno in molti a cedere alla tentazione, e senza pentimenti. Nel caso in cui invece vi troviate nella posizione - criminale - di non aver ancora goduto dei vibranti panorami e del gameplay eccezionale offerti dal gioco, non possiamo che consigliarvi di ovviare al misfatto prima che gli dei del videogioco pasteggino con le vostre anime.

Calling this the “Definitive Edition” may not be the most apt description. It is a fantastic version of the four-year-old platformer, especially considering you can play it on the go, but there’s little here that’s new or enhanced. The touch screen capabilities were pretty much in the game since its arrival on the Wii U and the Kung Foot update is just a tournament mode. In fact, the game’s load times are actually longer on the Switch, even though they’re still not too bad overall. Still, Rayman Legends holds up as a fantastic platformer even after all of these years, creating a memorable and highly-addictive experience that’s hard to match. The art style is one that fans will remember for along time and the musical missions standout as some of the most engaging stages in any Ubisoft game. There’s an incredible amount of content stuffed into this package, and even though it may not be a revolutionary upgrade, the Switch version feels like the perfect platform for Rayman Legends.

Waar Rayman Legends: Definitive Edition in tekortschiet is de substantie van de aangeboden extra’s. Naast Murfy’s Touch bevat de game enkel de Kung Foot Tournament-modus, in feite een toernooivorm van de voetbalminigame uit het origineel. Kung Foot is een leuke toevoeging op de coöperatieve pret die de game biedt, maar is geenszins een reden om de Switch-versie in huis te halen. Dit geldt ook voor de geinige skins van Mario Ray, A a in Ray en Splinter Ray, die eerder exclusief op andere consoles verschenen en nu onderdeel uitmaken van het gigantische aanbod. Daarbij komt ook dat laadtijden curieus lang en überhaupt aanwezig zijn, aangezien ze ontbraken op de PlayStation 4 en Xbox One. Het laden van een volgend level duurt nét een paar seconden te lang om ze voor lief te nemen, waardoor ze een smet zijn op de game. Aan de andere kant zit Definitive Edition bomvol met content en zullen spelers zich niet snel vervelen. Naast de hoofdgame kunnen spelers aan de slag met nog eens veertig van de beste levels uit Rayman Origins, omgekeerde versies van levels, time trials en dagelijkse uitdagingen. Geen van deze aspecten zijn uniek voor de Switch-versie, maar dat neemt niet weg dat Rayman Legends nog steeds tientallen uren gameplay biedt. Weinig games komen in de buurt van het vakmanschap waarmee deze prachtige platformer is gemaakt, waarmee het momenteel de beste game in z’n genre is op Nintendo’s platform. Het gebrek aan substantiële toevoegingen aan de game, maakt het echter niet meer dan een simpele port.
