Stranger Things 3 The Game è il videogioco basato sull’omonima serie televisiva Netflix, e punta proprio agli spettatori dello show: segue passo passo gli eventi della terza stagione, e li arricchisce con interessanti retroscena confinati alle missioni secondarie. Si tratta di un picchiaduro a scorrimento fortemente narrativo, molto divertente e anche discretamente longevo: la direzione artistica è curata e azzeccata, perché Stranger Things 3 The Game si ispira fortemente all’era 16 bit. Ad ogni modo resta pur sempre una produzione contenuta, realizzata da un piccolo team e con risorse visibilmente limitate: non aspettatevi la profondità offerta da altri titoli simili, e neppure un livello di dettaglio impressionante (che altri titoli in pixel art raggiungono invece sempre più spesso).

Stranger Things 3: The Game is a decent throw-back to older titles and a strong tie-in to the current third season to the show. Being a game version of the third season, you need to have prior knowledge of the show, its events and characters otherwise it'll be lost on you. Beyond this, the game has a nostalgic feel with charming retro visuals and beat-em-up combat, combined with modern sensibilities like making the areas of Stranger Things explorable, with a decent amount of content thrown in to give the game a decent amount of gameplay value. The only major issue is that towards the end of the game there's too much repetition. Still, for the smaller price, it's more than worth it for fans of the series.

Plutôt amusant et bien réalisé, Stranger Things 3 : The Game a clairement été développé pour les fans de la série. En dépit d'une progression un peu trop téléguidée (et calquée sur le scénar' de la troisième saison), l'aventure parvient à trouver un certain équilibre entre l'exploration, la baston et les énigmes. Porté par une ambiance géniale – même si la bande-son tourne un peu en rond – le jeu de BonusXP est, dans l'ensemble, une réussite. Il ne marquera pas les esprits comme peuvent le faire certaines productions indépendantes mais demeure un chouette prolongement de la série. Attention, on le répète encore une fois : il est plus que recommandé de regarder l'intégralité de la saison 3 avant de lancer le jeu.

At its heart, Stranger Things 3: The Game really feels like it exists for the most die-hard fans of the show; The people who will be elated by the very idea of having the series show up in their game library in addition to their Netflix queue. It's thoughtfully conceived and strikes a good balance between following the show faithfully and adhering to the structure of the games it imitates. Still, with thin combat and repetitive quests, it fails to make a strong case for itself apart from the show and its fandom.

No hay nada esencialmente bueno ni malo en un Stranger Things 3: The Game que hace los deberes para agradar a los fans de la serie de Netflix, y poco más. Eso sí, hay algunas cosas rescatables como su cooperativo y su estética, que encantará a los nostálgicos, lo que unido a una buena duración pueden hacernos pasar un rato agradable con él. Es un videojuego que no aspira a más, pero tampoco a menos.

Au final, Stranger Things 3: The Game est une bonne aventure. Pas marquante ni exceptionnelle sur le plan ludique, c’est par contre une excellente adaptation. Fidèle à la dernière saison sortie cette année, le jeu arrive à bien nous transporter dans les années 80 avec son style graphique rétro réussi, ses musiques synthwave – bien que quelque peu répétitives – et ses mécaniques qui nous font penser aux jeux d’antan. Stranger Things 3: The Game est avant tout à réserver (uniquement) aux amateurs de la série Netflix.

Per accompagnare il lancio della terza stagione di Stranger Things, Netflix e BonusXP decidono di sviluppare un tie-in che più tradizionale non si può, come quelli che popolavano il mercato una ventina di anni fa. Il titolo segue in maniera molto fedele gli eventi dello show, da una parte infischiandosene del rischio spoiler, dall’altra risultando generalmente superfluo per chi ha già concluso la visione delle nuove puntate. Per quanto sia apprezzabile lo spirito filologico con cui il gioco replica lo spirito e i modi delle avventure a 16bit, il fattore nostalgia è uno dei pochi aspetti davvero riusciti di una produzione molto limitata nelle meccaniche ludiche e nelle ambizioni creative. Costellata di enigmi banali, di scontri tediosi e ripetitivi, e funestata da un backtracking non proprio stimolante, la produzione si tiene in piedi grazie alla presenza di attività opzionali ben congegnate e di un sistema di crafting che veicola un buon senso di progressione. A pesare sulla valutazione non sono soltanto le falle creative, ma anche il rapporto fra qualità e prezzo. Sebbene la quantità di contenuti sia tutt’altro che esigua (i completisti potrebbero frequentare la Hawkins virtuale per circa otto ore), il costo del gioco sembra un po’ troppo elevato per l’offerta complessiva. Stranger Things 3: The Game resta insomma un prodotto generalmente trascurabile, da giocare magari fra qualche tempo, quando il ricordo della terza stagione si sarà affievolito e il prezzo sarà meno esoso.
