Call of Duty: Ghosts isn't a reinvention of the franchise, but proves there's still room for innovation within its existing formula. Though at the risk of overcomplicating things at times, its robust multiplayer gameplay, surprisingly fun co-op modes, and lengthy, challenging, and varied campaign makes Ghosts one of the best Call of Duty games to date.

Despite leaving the Black Ops and Modern Warfare names behind, this is not a huge departure from what those games are. In fact, Infinity Ward takes all of best parts of this generation’s previous offerings and crams them back into Call of Duty: Ghosts, while also leaving some features on the cutting room floor. The solid foundation for multiplayer and single player isn’t going to disappoint Call of Duty fans, but it’s also not going to surprise them with anything revolutionary. If you’ve been playing previous Call of Duty games, you’ve been down this path before. The PlayStation 4 version is a near carbon copy of its sibling on the PS3. For those that will be satisfied with more of the same from Call of Duty: Ghosts with slightly better visuals, Ghosts won’t likely disappoint you. For those that the game hasn’t left behind over the years, Ghosts is the most complete game in the series. Multiplayer is still rock-solid, aside from the ocassional frame rate hiccup on the PS4. There are numerous cooperative modes to tackle with friends. And the progression system is by far the deepest that we’ve seen in the course of the series. Single player mileage will vary, but there’s no arguing that Infinity Ward puts on a show with their latest campaign. Expect more from Call of Duty: Ghosts in the future, this is the first chapter of the next-generation of Call of Duty games.

Ghosts aparece en un momento delicado: Con las consolas de nueva generación ya casi en el escaparate, y la fórmula Call of Duty gastada tras años de guerra en las presentes consolas. La munición escasea y es algo que ya empieza a notarse en este trabajo de Infinity Ward, que está muy alejado de las estratosféricas cotas de calidad que en el pasado ofrecía la franquicia. Así en lo off-line cumple sin más con una campaña muy genérica, y una fórmula jugable que requiere nuevas ideas para mantener su poder en el género shooter. Pero en su poderosa ración multijugador, sin duda, ofrece exactamente lo que buscan sus amantes: que tendrán diversión con creces gracias a sus nuevas modalidades y mapas y a su adictivo componente jugable.

Call of Duty : Ghosts n'est certainement pas à mettre entre toutes les mains. Ceux qui y cherchent une expérience solo décoiffante peuvent passer leur chemin, mais ceux qui rêvent de parties multijoueurs intenses y trouveront davantage leur bonheur. La campagne pèche par de nombreux points, mais le multi propose des modes bien pensés qui tiennent en haleine. On apprécie particulièrement le mode Extinction qui propose de massacrer de l'alien en coopération avec trois autres potes.

El salto de Call of Duty: Ghosts a la nueva generación no sorprende en absoluto, y si lo hace, lo hace para mal. Estaba claro que el juego no lo iban a cambiar, y todo lo que no me gustó en PS3 se iba a mantener igual en PS4, pero que el salto gráfico sea tan pequeño, que se caiga de la competición tecnológica contra casi todos los juegos de lanzamiento de nueva generación, no es una buena señal. Es cierto que el juego sigue siendo divertido y adictivo, pero realmente espero que la saga el año que viene vuelva por la puerta grande, ya que va siendo hora de volver a quedarnos asombrados por una nueva entrega de esta popular franquicia.

With every subsequent release fans have gotten more and more tired of the tried and true multiplayer formula. It fails to innovate in any real way, and is just awful when it comes to presentation. While the slight tweaks the game makes may be enough for some, most of us will grow tired of the game within a week. It fails to stand up to its competition, and now that I have played it for myself, I can understand why the back of battlefield has a quote from IGN which reads “Battlefield 4 and the Frostbite 3 engine put COD Ghosts to shame”. If falling sales figures are any indication, Treyarch will have to have a lot of tricks up its sleeve next year if this series is going to survive.
