Captura la esencia de la película durante bastante tiempo, pero se apoya demasiado en los estándares del género, lo que hace que buena parte de la aventura sea monótona. Aún así, un muy digno juego de acción.

Ci aspettavamo di più da Aliens: Colonial Marines, questo è chiaro. Il gioco ha del potenziale e non è "scriptato" come alcuni recenti FPS, ma allo stesso tempo soffre per via di mancanze tutt'altro che marginali. Stiamo parlando della campagna in single player, breve e mal bilanciata, dell'arsenale che non viene adeguatamente valorizzato e infine di una realizzazione tecnica ben al di sotto degli standard attuali, fatta di modelli poligonali "old gen" e priva di quei particolari (le sequenze di morte, le animazioni di raccordo) che fanno capire quando una produzione non è ben rifinita. È il problema di quei videogame che affrontano qualche difficoltà durante lo sviluppo e arrivano sul mercato in netto ritardo, portandosi dietro idee e contenuti ormai "vecchi".

Con tutte le magagne ed i fastidiosi bug che porta in dote, il comparto tecnico datato e l'atmosfera delle pellicole ricreata solo in determinati frangenti, non si può certo dire che Aliens Colonial Marines abbia centrato l'obiettivo, o almeno non lo ha fatto completamente, disattendendo le elevatissime aspettative dei fan. Ciononostante l'impianto narrativo direttamente integrato con quello della saga cinematografica, la presenza di colpi di scena, Ester Eggs ed un comparto multiplayer alternativo a quello dei soliti FPS ne fanno un prodotto interessante per chi adora la saga e subisce il fascino dell'inquietante creatura di Geiger. La sequenza finale, inoltre, prevede chiaramente un prosieguo della storia e dunque un possibile seguito che, se riveduto e corretto secondo gli standard qualitativi Gearbox, potrebbe essere un prodotto finalmente maturo ed all'altezza della licenza. Se siete appassionati di Xenomorfi, disposti a chiudere non uno ma due occhi sul comparto tecnico e su un'atmosfera che non è in grado di incutere timore (Dead Space è su tutt'altro pianeta), potete sicuramente dargli una chance. Del resto il multiplayer competitivo e la campagna cooperativa regalano non poco divertimento, con la speranza che una tempestiva patch corregga tutti i fastidiosi bug evidenziati nella nostra prova.

Aliens: Colonial Marines es un nuevo ejemplo de que tener una reconocida licencia no es sinónimo de garantías de ningún tipo. Salvado ligeramente por su apartado multijugador, la campaña es una constante de errores. De cómo no hacer las cosas. De un desarrollo longevo que muestra inexorablemente las arrugas del paso del tiempo. Se esperaba mucho de esta producción de Gearbox, y aunque sus pequeños detalles agradarán a los fans de la cinta, no queda otro remedio que constatar que nos encontramos ante la primera decepción del año.

While Aliens: Colonial Marines may fail to deliver the gameplay experience some were hoping for, it is simply a cannot be missed title for fans of Aliens. Sure the gameplay may be lacking, the AI completely borked and the dialogue a little shallow but it's authentic to the story and for that reason alone I would highly suggest you rent it. Yes rent, don't buy it unless you're seriously interested in the multiplayer.

Schon wieder eine vertane Chance: Rebellions Remake von Alien vs. Predator konnte zumindest zeitweise Horrorstimmung verbreiten, Colonial Marines verkommt dagegen meist zum faden Dauerfeuer-Shooter. Zugegeben: Der Action-Fokus passt zum zweiten Film und die fetten Waffen machen auch hier Spaß, doch die meiste Zeit über degradiert Gearbox die eigentlich bedrohlichen Biester zum Kanonenfutter. Eine bessere KI, geschicktere Angriffsmuster und fette Bosskämpfe hätten deutlich mehr aus dem Spiel holen können. Auch technisch wirkt der Trip ins All rundum veraltet – vor allem das starke Tearing ging mir auf die Nerven. Als Fan des Films habe ich trotzdem einige schöne nostalgische Momente erlebt, denn viele Schauplätze wurden liebevoll nachempfunden und mit gelungenen Zitaten gespickt. Auch der Mehrspieler-Part besitzt Potential, kann aufgrund technischer Fehler und der fummeligen Alien-Steuerung aber nicht überzeugen. Trotz einiger authentischer Momente ist dieser Shooter technisch und spielerisch eine Enttäuschung.

Se solo Aliens: Colonial Marines avesse sfoggiato una grafica non dico strepitosa ma almeno discreta, il voto che vedete poco sotto avrebbe anche potuto raggiungere la sufficienza. Invece, un po' per il mediocre comparto tecnico, un po' per una campagna in singolo troppo breve, poco ispirata e narrativamente scialba, il tanto atteso ritorno degli xenomorfi si è trasformato nella mani di Gearbox Software in un mezzo buco nell'acqua. Il multiplayer ci mette una pezza e i riferimenti all'Aliens di James Cameron sono anche gustosi, ma dopo così tanti anni di attesa era lecito aspettarsi molto (ma molto) di più.

Aliens: Colonial Marines looks like Aliens, and sounds like Aliens, but unfortunately it just doesn’t feel like Aliens. Instead, it feels indistinguishable from almost every shooter you’ve played in the past twenty years. There are some feelings of nostalgia to be enjoyed, but it soon wears off and all that is left is some bog standard run ‘n’ gun action that brings little of note to the FPS table. Aliens: Colonial Marines has definitely been crafted with a lot of love for the franchise, it just needed a little more polish and a lot more imagination.

It would be easy to go on and on about the many failings of Aliens: Colonial Marines, but what’s the point? The fundamentals of this game are so terrible that there’s little value in nitpicking smaller missteps. It’s best if we just shunt Colonial Marines off to the same landfill now occupied by Duke Nukem Forever and fire up some Borderlands 2 instead. There’s serious talent at Gearbox Software, but it is nowhere in evidence here. There’s got to be a story here, some series of events that set this awful effort on a path to release when it should have been re-tooled from the ground up or scrapped all together. Maybe we’ll even hear it one day. That matters little in the here and now, however. Despite a few golden flashes and a tolerable (at best) co-op game, Aliens: Colonial Marines is a heartbreaking failure and an insult to fans of the franchise.

Gearbox peut faire de très bonnes choses. Gearbox a fait Borderlands. Mais il est aussi capable de pondre un véritable navet. Délais et budgets auront du mal à expliquer l'aspect archaïque de ce FPS qui échoue à tous les niveaux : gameplay, ambiance, fan service et respect de la licence. On le rangera dans sa collection personnelle pas loin du DVD de Alien Vs Predator Requiem, et là tout est dit. Même les fans hardcore peineront à trouver un intérêt à la chose.
