Un miracolo? Contro ogni aspettativa S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl è davvero riuscito a resuscitare la serie, senza intaccarne le caratteristiche più importanti, senza tradirne la filosofia. Rimanendo sé stesso, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 ribadisce la sua unicità. GSC Game World è tornata non per realizzare un gioco qualunque ma pensando in grande, forse proprio con l'obiettivo di rendere la serie importante come The Witcher di CD Projekt in Polonia. Un videogioco, ma anche una bandiera che in questo specifico caso non può che avere importanti sfumature politiche. Ma non è per questo che va premiato S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2, sarebbe una mancanza di rispetto e si rischierebbe di sminuire un gioco che, al contrario, andrebbe esaltato per il suo essere così coraggiosamente controcorrente. Sporco e ruvido, persino radioattivo. Ma speciale.

Un horror sim en primera persona con elementos de supervivencia en el que tendremos que aprender a sobrevivir y mejorar nuestro equipo para llegar al final de su compleja trama. Monstruos, anomalías y facciones enemigas se unen a lo árido del terreno y a las peligrosas emisiones para convertir la propuesta en una experiencia única en la que el aprendizaje y la intuición son tan importantes como la exploración y el pensamiento rápido a la hora de avanzar.

Raramente, negli ultimi tempi, abbiamo giocato ad una simulazione tanto immersiva e totalizzante quanto S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 Heart of Chornobyl: nonostante una lunghissima gestazione, una maledetta guerra ed il passaggio ad un nuovo engine, l'ibrido coniato da GSC Game World rappresenta il miglior prodotto del team fin qui, nonché quello più ambizioso e vasto. Nondimeno, non siamo davanti ad un gioco per tutti: la curva della difficoltà è molto ripida, anche al livello più basso di difficoltà e soprattutto per la prima decina di ore di gioco, e nonostante le due enormi patch lanciate poche ore prima della pubblicazione di questo pezzo abbiano notevolmente migliorato la situazione, l'esperienza di gioco è comunque ingolfata da una miriade di piccoli inconvenienti tecnici e bug minori, che potrebbero far storcere il naso ai giocatori più esigenti. Eppure, già adesso che il codice è ancora piuttosto sporco, le enormi potenzialità del titolo GSC Game World sono evidenti, e siamo pronti a scommettere che l'aggiunta del supporto alle mod (anche su console, stando alle dichiarazioni del team di sviluppo) e della modalità multigiocatore renderanno questo titolo uno dei più giocati dei prossimi mesi. Già mentre scriviamo queste righe non vediamo l'ora di tornare nella Zona, e questo dovrebbe darvi la misura di quanto forte sia stata la presa che il mondo creato dal team di sviluppo ha fatto su di noi. Pensate di essere pronti a diventare degli S.T.A.L.K.E.R.? Dimostratelo.

You already know if you'll like GSC's newest entry in the series. If you like Call of Pripyat, you'll like this. If you didn't, Heart of Chornobyl rarely hides any true improvements to the formula. It's exactly what fans expect, albeit with a fancy, oftentimes gorgeous, new lick of paint and some modern sensibilities, but it's Stalker through and through - for better and for worse.

When it’s firing on all cylinders, STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl is a rare treat that scratches the itch left behind by those older PC games, where the onus was on you to figure out how to survive and thrive in an unforgiving place that doesn’t care if you live or die. It's refreshing, brutal, and a masterclass in creating a brooding atmosphere that I loved basking in, bringing new life to a place as tragic and desolate as The Zone. Once the main quest gained momentum, the choices I made and the work required to reach the end left me invested in a suspenseful story that builds on the ambitions of its predecessors. There are, however, foundational problems that are hard to ignore, like bizarre enemy behavior in combat and the many bugs and performance issues that persist after launch. But for those with the patience and determination required for a massive, intentionally inelegant shooter, those are inconveniences worth enduring; STALKER 2 is a gripping exploration of Chornobyl, and there’s just nothing like it.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 Heart of Chornobyl è un prodotto caratterizzato da un valore produttivo innegabile, veicolato per mezzo di una trama dagli spunti narrativi interessanti e di una struttura ludica orgogliosamente unica. La gran quantità di problematiche tecniche e qualche ingrediente obsoleto ereditato dalla formula dell'originale gli impediscono di compiere quel grande salto di qualità che avremmo voluto raccontarvi. Eventuali aggiornamenti futuri volti non solo ad alleggerire qualche problema tecnico ma anche a bilanciare maggiormente il gameplay potrebbero trasformare S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 in un'esperienza imperdibile.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 : Heart of Chornobyl est une expérience singulière dans le paysage vidéoludique moderne qui convient de saluer. Le FPS de GSC Game World propose une immersion totale dans un univers post-apocalyptique fascinant, une vision survivaliste (trop) rare dans le jeu vidéo et une atmosphère sans pareil. Hélas, il souffre aussi de plusieurs maux qui l’empêchent d’atteindre l’excellence à commencer par son retard technique, son IA perfectible et son récit qui peine à s’imposer. Stalker 2 séduira avant tout les fans du genre qui sauront faire fi de tous ses errements.

STALKER 2 Heart of Chornobyl est un jeu difficile, immersif et souvent frustrant. Peu de compromis ont été faits, ce qui rend le gameplay aussi brutal que l'univers dans lequel il se déroule. La progression est lente et douloureuse, surtout avec les nombreux bugs présents, alors que la mort peut être aussi subite qu'injuste. Cela demande une solide dose de patience, mais il faut reconnaître que l'exploration de la zone en vaut la peine, avec tous ses dangers et ses mystères qu'on tente d'élucider. Les outils, les interactions à notre disposition sont bien trop pauvres, ce qui réduit les façons de jouer et les options au strict minimum, tout en détruisant l'immersion que le jeu s'est donné tant de mal à construire. Espérons que STALKER 2 aura aussi droit à sa version 2.0 à l'avenir, puisqu'il le mérite.

Stalker 2 could be a great game in a few years, but what's presented at launch is a technical mess that doesn't capitalise on its best ideas. Compelling side stories and a brilliant setting do a lot of the heavy lifting, but at launch Stalker 2 isn't an adventure we'd fully recommend embarking on.
