Project CARS 2 plays like a pumped-up version of the classic TOCA Race Driver 3 from 2006, redressing many of the complaints levelled at the original. The handling has been tuned to a T, the content is excellently curated, and the amount of variety and racing available in it is delightfully daunting. Even if you don’t care about the developer’s esports aspirations there’s still a mammoth solo racer here that’s always ready to roll whenever you are. Now and then I’ll encounter a display quirk or a bug that may botch a race start, and the AI desperately needs a lesson in first corners, but when I’m out on track wringing ten-tenths out of my car against just the right AI level – one eye on the car ahead and the other on the clouds above – this is about as good as real racing gets right now.

Project CARS 2 s'apparente à une version sous stéroïdes du classique TOCA Race Driver 3 sorti en 2006, et corrige les défauts reprochés au premier volet. La conduite a été entièrement revue, le contenu savamment organisé, et la quantité d'éléments variés et de courses s'avère délicieusement intimidante. Même si vous n'accordez que peu d'importance aux aspirations e-sport du développeur, vous profitez toujours d'un contenu solo gargantuesque disponible à tout moment. Il arrive de temps en temps qu'un défaut d'affichage ou un bug vienne gâcher un début de course, et l'IA aurait bien besoin de cours pour aborder les premiers virages, mais quand je suis sur la piste en train de pousser mon bolide dans ses derniers retranchements pour gratter quelques dixièmes de secondes face à une IA qui me correspond - un œil sur la voiture qui me précède et l'autre fixant l'horizon - l'expérience s'avère presque aussi bonne que celle d'une véritable course.

Project Cars 2 nos ha dejado grandes sensaciones, sobre todo con el aspecto más importante en todo simulador que se precie: la física de las ruedas. Los cambios hechos en este aspecto son acertados y la integración con una climatología variable, el añadido del RallyCross y su faceta multijugador, lo convierten en una gran secuela que supera en todo a su predecesor.

Se le oltre 1700 parole usate finora in questo articolo non vi sono bastate, per farla breve Project CARS 2 è uno dei migliori racing game simulativi di questa generazione. I ragazzi di Slightly Mad Studios hanno fatto di tutto per colmare alle mancanze del primo episodio con un numero di contenuti più grande e variegato, e un gameplay che cerca di venire incontro ai giocatori più casual senza compromettere minimamente l’esperienza di gioco all’utenza hardcore rendendola ancora più profonda e realistica grazie a una fisica ancora più curata e un meteo dinamico in grado di cambiare le carte in corsa. A Project CARS 2 manca pochissimo per raggiungere lo status di capolavoro ma, in fondo, ricordiamoci che neanche Roma è stata costruita in un giorno.

Project CARS 2 è un titolo enorme capace di regalare emozioni in quantità e qualità, con un’offerta ludica molto ampia e un comparto tecnico a tratti stupefacente, che vi consentirà di godere a pieno di un titolo che offre possibilità ed esperienze uniche nel suo genere. Con un parco macchine enorme, il più vasto assortimento di tracciati e layout, ogni condizione meteo immaginabile e il ciclo giorno/notte dinamico avrete il completo controllo di ogni aspetto della vostra esperienza di gara. Un titolo da non perdere per gli amanti dei sim-racing ma anche per utenti occasionali alla ricerca di un prodotto curato e dalla longevità assicurata.

There's an undeniable quality to Project CARS 2. It's possibly the most realistic racing sim around, with an almost inordinate amount of detail that's gone into every car, track and the weather and how everything is interconnected. This makes the lack of accessibility for those who struggle with simulation and who'd prefer an arcade mode all the more annoying. Is it a great game? Likely the best racing sim around. Does it need to open itself up to those less skilled? Yes.

¿Tenemos nuevo rey de la conducción? Quizá en cuanto a conducción en sí no, pero sí, sin duda, ante el juego más completo. Eso sí, tenemos que reconocer que esperábamos un poco más de Project CARS 2. La conducción resulta algo irregular y el modo Trayectoria no consigue enganchar. Por otra parte, las opciones de configuración y el LiveTrack 3.0 lo convierten, de calle, en el juego de conducción más completo habido y seguramente por haber en muchos años. Además, el sistema online puede evitar muchos problemas al separar a los jugadores por habilidad y disciplina en la pista. Eso sí, nos queda la sensación de que Project Cars en 2015 fue mejor que Project CARS 2 en 2017, al menos en cuanto a revolución y opciones, dejando claro que Project CARS 2 es, a día de hoy, mejor juego. Slightly Mad Studios ha apostado por un “más y mejor” en esta secuela. Quizá el “mejor” no lo sea tanto, pero el “más” lo es, y mucho.

In conclusione Project Cars 2 è un ottimo videogioco di simulazione. Che ha anche una grande scalabilità che lo rende accessibile anche ai neofiti del genere. Questo videogame è bello da vedere e ancor di più da giocare, certo non manca di sbavature e di qualche piccola imperfezione, ma sono per la maggior parte trascurabili e quasi un segno distintivo del gioco stesso. Mi sento di consigliarlo a tutti gli amanti o appassionati del genere, ma anche a chi vuole approcciarsi al genere e vedere che cosa succede.

Comme les premières impressions le laissaient présager, Project Cars 2 est bel et bien un excellent jeu de course. Respirant l'amour pour l'automobile, il reste agréable à la manette mais ne délivre sa quintessence qu'en présence d'un volant et d'un pédalier. Là, les sensations deviennent grisantes (vive le rallycross) et les courses s'enchaînent sans qu'on ne voit passer les heures. Pour un second épisode, la série est bien propulsée mais doit encore s'améliorer sur plusieurs points, à commencer par l'IA, et ne pas se faire dépasser, comme c'est le cas parfois, par son exigence. Frustrant (par moments) mais immersif, ce nouvel épisode est tout simplement ce qui se fait de mieux à l'heure actuelle.
