As with all sandbox games the narrative is of your own making but this is even more true of Most Wanted. The side-effect is that it can feel aimless at times. If you desire structure, if you wanted a game to be meted out to you, you might find its instant freedom somewhat overwhelming. But Most Wanted is all about deviation and deviance. It’s the racing game for people who don’t tend to like racing games. You’re not punished for missing that apex or abandoning that nagging racing line. It’s undoubtedly one of the year’s most exhilarating experiences.

Need For Speed: Most Wanted, alla luce di quanto detto, è un titolo da non peredere, soprattutto per gli amanti dei racing arcade. Reo in parte di non apportare grandi innovazioni al genere, recuperando sostanzialmente la struttura di Burnout, il titolo è però capace di entusiasmare dall’inizio alla fine, non limitandosi semplicemente a copiare un titolo già ai tempi eccellente ma migliorandone ed affinandone molte meccaniche, inserendone ulteriori stratificazioni ludiche. La varietà ne risente dunque in positivo, così come immediatezza e divertimento, ai massimi per una produzione arcade. Il minor numero di eventi rispetto ad un recente concorrente come Forza: Horizon non devono poi spaventare: l’amalgama perfetta tra competizione in singolo e multiplayer fa di Most Wanted uno dei racing più rigiocabili ed assuefacenti della generazione. Il confronto con Horizon, tuttavia, termina non appena inziato: le due produzioni sono in efetti molto diverse, quasi opposte. Laddove Playground Games ha cercato ed ottenuto l’equilibrio desiderato, Criterion vuole spingere costantemente al limite, rendendo Most Wanted una scarica di adrenalina dal pad al cervello, una scossa a 220 Volts, una sgasata in piana faccia alla monotonia. In poche parole, un videogame da non perdere per alcuna ragione, capace di tenere incollati allo schermo fino alla sofferenza fisica.

Need for Speed: Most Wanted si presenta come un eccellente gioco di guida arcade in grado di dominare letteralmente il comparto online del genere. Purtroppo però l'essenza dei classici Need for Speed viene a mancare in quanto il titolo in se sembra un sequel di Burnout Paradise a tutti gli effetti. Criterion dal fatto suo torna però a sorprendere grazie al suo stile di gioco open world in grado divertire per ore e ore. In poche parole se siete amanti del genere arcade racing questo è un titolo che dovete assolutamente avere nella vostra collezione.

At the end of the day though, it’s all about the races, and in that regard, Most Wanted delivers. Driving dangerously is as fun as ever, and Fairhaven is a nice place to go about re-enacting our wildest, most illegal driving fantasies.

Nicht ganz Need for Speed, nicht ganz Burnout Paradise, aber dennoch ein sehr unterhaltsamer Hochglanz-Raser mit Geschwindigkeitswahn. Die offene Rennspiel-Welt von Criterion kann allerdings nicht uneingeschränkt begeistern: Solisten freuen sich zwar über mehr als 40 lizenzierte PS-Monster, die sie unterstützt von einer akkuraten Steuerung in halsbrecherischer Geschwindigkeit durch das attraktive Fairhaven und Umgebung lenken. Sie werden aber den umfangreichen Tuning-Möglichkeiten des Namens-Vorgängers auf der einen und den abwechslungsreichen Wettbewerben aus Paradise City nachweinen. Mit dem asynchronen Wettbewerb gegen seine Freunde sowie den Jäger-und-Komplettierungsfanatiker ansprechenden Sammel-Aktionen oder Freispiel-Möglichkeiten kann das zwar etwas kompensiert werden, doch hier wäre mehr drin gewesen. Ganz anders sieht es im Mehrspieler-Modus aus: Chaotisch, variantenreich und herrlich verrückt, treiben sich bis zu acht Spieler (auf Vita bis zu vier) gegenseitig in den Takedown-Wahnsinn, nur um feststellen zu müssen, dass sie einander beim nächsten Wettbewerb helfen müssen – sehr cool!

Need for Speed : Most Wanted est un jeu de course plaisant, empruntant autant au précédent Most Wanted qu'à Burnout, pour un résultat certes un peu bourrin mais plutôt convaincant. La liste des voitures est peut-être un peu succincte mais les caisses sont bourrées de personnalité et le joueur jubile à chaque fois qu'il en dégote une nouvelle. Il est simplement regrettable que le système de progression un peu répétitif et quelques mécanismes de gameplay pas très équilibrés (les takedowns, les respawns...) nuisent à l'expérience de jeu. Mais au final, grâce à un mutli efficace et aucun temps mort, Most Wanted s'en sort avec les honneurs et s'impose comme l'un des bons jeux arcade du moment.

Criterion a su marier son style à celui des Need for Speed avec talent si on est pas regardant sur les détails. Le plaisir est donc au rendez-vous, notamment grâce à une conduite à grande vitesse très arcade et un sentiment de liberté plus qu'appréciable, en solo comme en ligne. Les challenges sont également constants, et facilités par l'Autolog nouvelle version. On ne s'ennuie pas une seconde. Pour autant il est difficile de pardonner certains égarements comme le manque de visibilité lors de certaines courses ou les takedown mal équilibrés, qui cassent un peu trop le rythme du jeu. Un titre à conseiller aux amateurs de conduite arcade qui prennent leur pied avec l'ivresse de la vitesse sans se prendre au sérieux en somme...

Scendendo da Need for Speed: Most Wanted ci si sente tremendamente galvanizzati, abbastanza scombussolati per tutti gli incidenti scatenati, gli schianti frontali e le manovre da brivido col freno a mano tirato. Si tratta di un arcade free roaming, praticamente il migliore in circolazione, in cui la scienza della velocità, la totale libertà di traiettoria e quante più sportellate scorrette agli avversari sono gli elementi fondanti il gameplay. Assieme, ovviamente, alle incessanti sirene della polizia, che non danno (quasi) mai tregua. Un racing game palesemente social, che chiede con avidità, per non dire che supplica, di essere collegato online e giocato prevalentemente in multiplayer, per affrontare i piloti più veloci della rete e scalare le classifiche di Faihaven. Per chi ama i paragoni a tutti i costi: nulla di equiparabile al respiro o alla bontà di Forza Horizon. Most Wanted è un racing game completamente diverso, esageratamente arcade, ma "altrettanto ottimo". Sarebbe auspicabile possederli entrambi, per rifarsi gli occhi e guidarli a seconda dello stato d'animo del momento. Modus Operandi Ho ricevuto da EA una copia originale del gioco in versione PlayStation 3 e l'ho provato in lungo, in largo e soprattutto online, armato del classico joypad e pago dell'impostazione di default proposta da Criterion. Piuttosto, avrei gradito la possibilità di regolare la sensibilità dello sterzo (opzione fra l'altro presente nella versione iPad). Il gioco, comunque sia, supporta anche il PlayStation Move Racing Wheel.
