Solido, longevo e tecnicamente quasi impeccabile, Ghost Recon: Future Soldier segna un bel ritorno per la saga di shooter tattici di Ubisoft, di cui francamente si sentiva la mancanza. In mezzo a mille proiettili sparati a tutta velocità nel panorama d'oggi, l'approccio più ragionato della campagna aiuta a chiarirsi le idee e a ottenere un tipo di divertimento diverso dal solito. Un piatto ricchissimo fatto di ore di gioco tra cooperativa, multiplayer e modalità Guerriglia, che pecca solo in una trama dimenticabile e una serie di livelli ottimamente disegnati, ma che non diventano mai memorabili. Il cuore di questa nuova prova Ubisoft risiede tutto nella giocabilità, ostinata e precisa, e che si svela in pienezza nella difficoltà più elevata, ma che potrebbe allontanare i curiosi in cerca di una sfida intermedia tra quella base e quella per pro. Chi finirà imbrigliato nelle migliaia di modifiche delle armi e si ostinerà a salire tutti i livelli evolutivi delle classi, rimarrà invischiato nel futuro di Ubisoft per settimane.

Come abbiamo detto in apertura Ghost Recon: Future Soldier è stata una sorpresa sotto tutti i punti di vista. Non è stata solo la solidità della sua campagna single player a convincerci, ma soprattutto l’ottima varietà di situazioni a cui ci siamo sempre trovati di fronte, le ampie possibilità di gioco cooperativo -che di fatto ampliano l’esperinza single a dismisura- ed un comparto multiplayer sbocciato inaspettatamente sotto ai nostri occhi. Guerriglia, per quanto sinistramente simile ad Orda, presenta alcuni interessanti punti di rottura che sapranno senza dubbio coinvolgere gli appassionati della serie targata Tom Clancy’s, così come le varie modalità competitive, ideali per attirare un pubblico abbastanza variegato ma comunque scevro da quella componente estremamente casual alla continua ricerca della statistica personale. Il quadro che viene dipinto è quello di un’opera veramente completa, in grado di sostare senza indugi ai vertici di questa generazione e meritevole di essere premiata con uno score che ne attesti l’eccellenza.

Ghost Recon: Future Solider is a refreshing change from the current trend of thoughtless shooters, and in the moments when everything clicks together, it’s hard to think of a more absorbing shooter. Unfortunately it doesn't always click though, and forgettable dialogue, poor facial animations and inconsistent visuals dent what is otherwise a great game, plus there’s no denying a little extra polish would’ve made a huge difference. But if you’re after a superbly paced, thoughtful shooter that boasts a strong campaign and enjoyable multiplayer, Future Soldier is bang on target.

Ghost Recon Future Soldier poursuit le virage vers l'accessibilité amorcé par Advanced Warfighter tout en mixant un peu plus les phases de jeu. La scène d'action musclée succède à l'infiltration avec toujours pour mot d'ordre d'éviter la faute, à chacun ensuite de juger des risques qu'il souhaite prendre dans l'élaboration de sa tactique. La mise en scène et l'ambiance soignées se chargeant pour leur part d'assurer l'immersion, qui est au final la principale qualité de cet épisode.

Was waren das für Zeiten, als Ubisoft mit Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter ein Ausrufezeichen auf der damals brandneuen Xbox 360 setzen konnte. Auch der letzte Auftritt der Truppe vor fünf Jahren bot eine gelungene Mischung aus Taktik und Action. Future Soldier wurde dagegen auf eine neue Spielergeneration abgestimmt: Der schon damals gestutzte Taktik-Anteil wurde jetzt endgültig auf ein Minimum reduziert und durch Automatismen ersetzt. Stattdessen stehen Action in Kombination mit Schleichelementen im Fokus – nicht schlecht, aber auch nicht das, was die Serie ausmacht. Ich könnte mich sogar halbwegs mit der neuen Ausrichtungen anfreunden, denn was Tempowechsel, Schauplätze, Missionsdesign und stellenweise auch die Inszenierung angeht, weiß der Titel durchaus zu gefallen. Aber hätte es nicht etwas anspruchsvoller sein können? Spätestens mit Equipment wie Dronen oder Kampfmech wird das Quartett schnell übermächtig – auch weil die KI-Begleiter fast schon zu zielsicher auftreten und mir dadurch zu viel Arbeit abnehmen. Als ob das nicht genug wäre, greift mir auch noch eine Zielhilfe unter die Arme, die sich nicht deaktivieren lässt. Zu selten spüre ich die Bedrohung, das Kribbeln, die Spannung. Würde ich mich nur auf das Solospiel beschränken, wäre die Wertung eher Anfang 70 angesiedelt. Erst wenn man sich kooperativ durch die Kampagne schlägt, gewinnt sie an Reiz und macht dank des Absprechens und Taktierens im Team deutlich mehr Spaß. Überhaupt gewinnt Future Soldier vor allem durch die Mehrspielerkomponente an Faszination, denn neben den Koop-Einsätzen überzeugen auch abwechslungsreiche Versus-Modi und der saubere Netzcode. Allerdings hätte ich mir mehr individuelle Möglichkeiten zur Anpassung gewünscht – sei es bei den Figuren oder Spielsessions. Die findet man lediglich im Baukasten Gunsmith, der vor allem Waffennarren begeistern dürfte – ob mit oder ohne Kinect. Insgesamt ist Future Soldier ein gelungener Action-Titel, der vor allem im Multiplayer überzeugt, im Solo-Einsatz jedoch einen gewissen Anspruch vermissen lässt. Wer sich hier die Rückkehr zur Taktik oder zumindest eine Fortsetzung des Tugenden eines Advanced Warfighter erhofft hat, wird zwangsläufig enttäuscht!

Definitely a game that goes outside of the popular conventions that twitch based shooters adhere to, Ghost Recon Future Soldier has alot to offer for gamers who prefer their shooters of the more cerebral nature.

Occasionally ambitious but ultimately too afraid to deviate from the genre's well-worn formulas, Ghost Recon: Future Soldier feels like it's stuck in the past.
