There is no such thing as a perfect game, but this game does come close. With a beautiful setting, awesome story and characters, and great combat and dungeon exploring, Persona 4 Golden is one of the best games that I have played. If you own a Vita, this is a game that you cannot miss. It is definitely one of the best games to come from this generation.

Alors qu'il pensait passer une année paisible en l'absence de ses parents, un ado est fraîchement transféré dans une bourgade japonaise. Mais meurtres, esprits, arcanes et RPG ne sont jamais bien loin quand Atlus décide de faire un nouveau Persona. C'est sans aucun doute l'aventure la plus passionnante et la plus baroque à la fois, foisonnante d'idées qui, assurément, ne pouvaient sortir que de l'esprit de passionnés, bien décidés à nous faire revivre une année scolaire totalement awesome.

The PlayStation Vita is lucky to have Persona 4 Golden. While the game doesn’t do much of note besides bringing the 2008 title to the HD era, it doesn’t need to. The story hooks you, dungeon crawling makes for a great time, and exploring your relationships while building a better army is the kind of tinkering you can get lose hours to. Persona 4 Golden is perfectly at home on the handheld and should dominate your free time.

Natürlich ist es nur die Umsetzung eines PS2-Spiels – aber was für eine! Persona 4: Golden klebt keine überflüssigen Monster oder Kleidungsstücke an das Original, sondern erweitert es sowohl um spielerische als auch erzählerische Puzzlestücke. Lediglich der Hilferuf per Onlineanbindung erfüllt keinen spürbaren Sinn. Schön wäre auch gewesen, wenn die furchtbar langweiligen Kulissen der Fernsehwelt frische Anreize zum Entdecken gewonnen hätten. So bleiben sie leider die mit Abstand größte Schwäche des Schulkrimis. Die fordernden taktischen Gefechte sowie die enge Verknüpfung des Alltagslebens mit dem Fantasykampf machen Persona 4 allerdings noch heute zu einem der besten japanischen Rollenspiele. Ein hervorragendes Artdesign, der motivierende Aufbau starker Personas und die spannende Geschichte tragen ebenfalls dazu bei. Es ist ebenso traurig wie bemerkenswert, dass der PS2-Klassiker vielleicht das Beste ist, was Vita-Besitzer in diesem Jahr erleben dürfen!

Beau, long et extraordinairement immersif, Persona 4 : The Golden est probablement l'un des meilleurs spin-off de Shin Megami Tensei auxquels nous ayons eu l'occasion de jouer jusqu'ici. A moins d'être allergique au genre ou de ne rien comprendre à la langue de Shakespeare, on n'hésitera pas une seconde à se le procurer.

Inutile girarci attorno, Persona 4 Golden è quanto di meglio si possa trovare oggi, come allora, in ambito di giochi di ruolo giapponesi. Presenta una storia matura, tematiche profonde, dialoghi in inglese raffinati (la versione nostrana non presenta un adattamento del testo in italiano), personaggi credibili e carismatici, una meccanica di gioco coinvolgente e un sistema di combattimento classico ma efficace. Pecca nel ritmo, a volte compassato, e nell’esplorazione, con labirinti ripetitivi e poveri di elementi, ma si fa perdonare qualsivoglia difetto grazie a un’attenzione maniacale ai dettagli, basti osservare con quale consapevolezza ciascun personaggio è abbinato alla rispettiva carta dei tarocchi, e a una struttura di gioco di ampio respiro, nella quale ogni particolare è bilanciato con gli altri e l’insieme. A tratti ci si cala a tal punto nel tessuto narrativo da prolungare l’esperienza vissuta ben oltre il tempo dedicato al gioco. Questa versione per PlayStation Vita si presenta poi a tal punto rifinita da risultare appetibile persino a chi dovesse aver provato l’originale. Da avere, giocare e godere. Fino in fondo.

Persona 4 Golden is what Persona 4 should have been all along. It’s a massive roleplaying game with compelling characters and interesting, intuitive gameplay mechanics that motivate players along not with design cliches, but by offering new, interesting things to see and explore. Though it’s modern setting and anime style may not appeal to everyone, those who can see past these “issues” to the core experience beneath will find themselves enjoying a game that certainly earned a place as one of the best PS2 titles, and has now established itself as one of the best games available on Sony’s Vita handheld. More impressively, the wealth of changes and additions seen in Persona 4 Golden make it one of the few re-releases that should appeal equally to fans of the original Persona 4 and those who’ve yet to experience the series. Atlus has jam-packed this game with new content, and even if you’ve explored every nook and cranny of Persona 4 on the PS2, you’ll find plenty of novel things to do and see in its handheld incarnation. While it probably doesn’t have the power to sway those who absolutely abhor roleplaying games, those who enjoy the genre should view Persona 4 Golden as the current high water mark for these sorts of games, and, for that matter, as a perfect reason to go out and buy a Vita. Even if everything else on the system leaves you cold, at least you’ll have this one epic adventure to enjoy over the course of the next few weeks, months, and years.

Persona 4 Golden es por méritos propios uno de los grandes nombres de PS Vita, igual que lo fue hace cuatro años en Playstation 2. Su propuesta rolera sigue vigente y es de lo más recomendable tanto por su profundidad como por su originalidad. Puede que para los novatos en el género sea demasiado y que los combates por turnos no gusten a todos, pero eso no baja al título de su pedestal. Lo que sí supone un gran fallo es el tema del idioma. Encontrarnos con un título como este integramente en inglés es un gran fallo que echará para atrás a muchos jugadores.
