Catherine: Full Body è l'occasione perfetta per recuperare una gemma rara della scorsa generazione. Questa versione definitiva del gioco ricalca la mirabolante settimana che cambierà la vita a Vincent Brooks. Lo fa con l'introduzione di una terza spasimante, la quale introduce anche un tema delicato come quello delle relazioni LGBT. A seguire troviamo come di consueto una direzione artistica sublime, accompagnata dall'immancabile colonna sonora curata da Shoji Meguro. Il tutto orchestrato da Katsura Hashino che ha guidato lo Studio Zero anche nello sviluppo di Persona 5.

Se avete amato Catherine otto anni fa, tornerete ad amarlo ancora oggi, in una versione Full Body che sprizza energia da tutti i pixel e che rappresenta con forza un testamento della narrazione videoludica. Se al contrario non avete mai vissuto le vicende di Vincent e del suo "harem", oltre a fare un grande mea culpa, avete ora la possibilità di gustare un titolo straordinario e divertentissimo. Un'avventura in grado di far riflettere e di sorridere allo stesso tempo, contornata da una fase puzzle tra le migliori mai realizzate. Purtroppo l'inserimento di Rin rappresenta la più grossa nota stonata del gioco, e l'impossibilità di lasciarla totalmente da parte, rischia di rovinare un equilibrio narrativo che risultava perfetto otto anni fa. Impossibile non consigliarlo per questo, ma dispiace dover ammettere che si tratti dell'unico vero neo di una riedizione straordinaria. Fosse stata presente la scelta, staremmo probabilmente parlando di un eccellenza che meriterebbe quanto meno un nove pieno.

Like a fine wine, Catherine Full Body aged pretty well. The story of adult relationships is still relevant. The puzzle sections are as great as it was before with cool new additions to get veterans to dip again. Catherine Full Body is an acquired taste, but it tastes even better now.

Non è stato migliorato solo il comparto tecnico del titolo, ma sono stati aggiunti anche diversi contenuti , sia nella storia (con l'aggiunta di Rin e di diverse scene animate), che dal punto di vista del gameplay (con la modalità remix)

Full Body rielabora il Catherine originale, proponendo una versione che, al di là delle enormi novità sul versante dell'offerta, inserisce nel triangolo amoroso un quarto personaggio in grado di scardinarne gli equilibri. Non tutte le variazioni alle ricette riescono a migliorarle, e per quanto concerne la solidità della narrazione Full Body non mantiene la medesima eccellenza saggiata nel 2011. Del tutto opposto il verdetto sul piano ludico, dal momento che questa rivisitazione rifinisce ed espande enormemente il gameplay del titolo, con centinaia di nuovi stage e con modalità di gioco che modificano l'approccio all'esperienza. Già solo per questo, dunque, Full Body potrebbe rivelarsi una tentazione alla quale cedere senza nessun pentimento.

Si l'on pouvait questionner la pertinence de cette nouvelle version, le travail effectué sur les lumières et la refonte visuelle valent le détour. Le personnage inédit de Rin apporte un peu plus de profondeur à un scénario et à des personnages qui pouvaient par moments paraître un peu binaires. Bien qu'un bonne partie de l'aventure soit identique, Catherine Full Body est une vraie relecture du jeu original, dont les apports pourront déplaire aux fans hardcore, mais qui constitue une très bonne occasion de se replonger dans une expérience pour le moins atypique et aux thématiques trop rarement abordées dans notre médium.

Catherine: Full Body is the definitive version of a cult classic game, in terms of gameplay. When it comes to the story and romance simulation side of the game, I can't help but feel it's a step down when compared to what we already had years ago. Still a great game that deserves to be experienced, but Catherine: Full Body should only be essential for those die-hard fans and the competitive scene, everyone else can wait for a sale.

Catherine: Full Body didn’t really change my opinion on Catherine all that much. I’m still as conflicted as I was in 2011 with a love for the art style and weirdness of the game. The uninspired puzzles that make up the rest of it wear out their welcome too quickly though.
