Ghostrunner 2 is an electric sequel that supercharges everything that was great about the original and elevates it to a whole new level. The lightning fast, skill-heavy, one-hit kill combat is as exciting as ever, packed with even more tricks that give you plenty of new options to approach every scenario. The parkour also remains as smooth as silk, and some of the new motorcycle sequences are among the most exhilarating moments I’ve had all year. Those who didn’t vibe with the intensely reflex-heavy gameplay of the first Ghostrunner probably won’t be swayed by any of these improvements, but if the original was up your alley, I can’t imagine a better sequel than this.

En 3DJuegos ya veíamos el original como una joyita oculta, pero Ghostrunner 2 definitivamente ha subido mucho el listón. A la acción desenfrenada que ya nos había convencido en su momento ahora tenemos que sumarle unos niveles deliciosos cargados de inspiración y energía. Si bien los nuevos añadidos como la moto o las afueras de Dharma Tower tienen su aquel, sin duda alguna donde brilla GR2 es en hacer que las cosas que ya nos gustaban de su predecesor sean aún mejores. Lo que fue un paraíso para speedrunners, ahora es un gran juego para todo el mundo, con un plus de interés para ese sector.

Ghostrunner 2 migliora ovunque il lavoro del predecessore: niente più missioni di fila ma una trama costruita anche su dialoghi (seppur un po' derivativa), un abbozzo di sistema RPG che permetterà di potenziare il protagonista (dando più scelte per superare i vari livelli) e un dettaglio tecnico qualitativamente superiore al precedente in tutto. Il gioco è un degno sequel e siamo convinti che si farà giocare da tutti coloro che hanno amato il primo titolo, ma siamo anche certi che una rifinitura della IA, una trama leggermente più elaborata e una pulizia del codice migliore avrebbero dato al titolo una qualità superiore.

Ghostrunner 2, in definitiva, è una versione corretta e potenziata del titolo che aveva appassionato milioni di giocatori ormai tre anni fa. Il gameplay è stato arricchito con una serie di accorgimenti strutturali e contenutistici volti a variegare e migliorare l’esperienza nel suo complesso. Si tratta ad ogni modo di un prodotto hardcore, che saprà mettere a dura prova anche gli utenti più navigati, ma capace di donare enormi soddisfazioni a chi deciderà di investire tempo per padroneggiarne le meccaniche. Se siete alla ricerca di un gioco capace di donarvi una sfida degna di questo nome e apprezzate gli stilemi tipici dell'immaginario cyberpunk, Ghostrunner 2 potrebbe fare al caso vostro.

Ghostrunner 2 is a great follow-up to the original. It refines the action-platforming of the predecessor while adding some new tools and tricks for returning players. If you are okay with dying dozens of times on every level and can excuse some lost potential in the story department, this game is a deeply rewarding cyberpunk thrill ride from start to finish.

In buona sostanza, Ghostrunner 2 riprende le sue origini senza sconfessarle, anzi, le integra ulteriormente con nuovi spazi da esplorare e nuove meccaniche, grazie all’introduzione dell’uso della moto. Un titolo che appunto riprende le orme del primo capitolo, proseguendo sullo stesso cammino sia per stile di gameplay, sia per continuità narrativa, seppur qualche minima complicazione tecnica non consenta, allo stato attuale di rilascio, di elevarlo all’eccezionalità da un punto di vista tecnico. Jack torna a mietere vittime in maniera imperdonabile con la sua katana, ma anche i nemici, allo stesso modo, saranno impietosi con lui al minimo colpo, procurandoci una serie copiosa di Game Over racimolati. Non ci siamo fermati per questo, anche se qualche bug non ci ha consentito di procedere spediti come avremmo voluto nei vari parkour acrobatici. Rimane comunque un ottimo lavoro con risultati più che buoni conseguiti da 505 Games e One More Level, che consentiranno a questo secondo titolo di tenere testa al numero di vendita racimolato con il primo capitolo. Chapeau e buona immersione nel mondo cyberpunk a tutti, tra cyber-ninja pericolosi e moto velocissime su cui sfrecciare.

Dans un premier temps, Ghostrunner 2 semble être la digne évolution de son prédécesseur : une intrigue plus travaillée, des visuels flatteurs et un gameplay qui évolue à un rythme parfaitement maitrisé en récompensant le joueur comme il se doit, et une difficulté globalement bien gérée. Malheureusement, certaines nouveautés n’apportent pas grand-chose et viennent même légèrement dénaturer la formule du premier opus. Ne vous y trompez pas, le jeu reste très agréable à parcourir dans son ensemble !

Avec Ghostrunner 2, le studio One More Level opère un virage action-aventure qui n’est pas sans heurts. En misant sur des zones plus grandes et pas toujours très précises, on perd un peu ce qui faisait le charme du premier volet… Ici, “die and retry” est plus souvent synonyme de frustration, ce qui aboutit à une expérience moins addictive ! L’aventure est ainsi jalonnée de tentatives (plus ou moins réussies) d’étoffer l’expérience - avec quelques passages qui sortent du lot, notamment dans la seconde partie. On se retrouve donc avec une expérience plaisante, portée par un gameplay toujours efficace, mais qui s’égare un peu trop souvent.

Ghostrunner 2 is a high-speed adventure that combines punishing difficulty with satisfying rewards. The challenge level is on the higher side, but victory never seems out of reach. Due to the generous checkpoint system it’s easy to stay motivated to keep pushing oneself through each checkpoint, which can lead to some play sessions lasting longer than intended. While this feedback loop can keep the player going for a while, it can’t sustain enjoyable gameplay indefinitely. It can be thrilling for a few hours, but the charm is likely to wear off after a while for most players. Ghostrunner 2 does succeed in what it set out to do which is create a challenging, fast-paced action game that can make the player feel like an invincible ninja, but the end product is something that would only really appeal to gamers seeking out this specific type of experience.

Ghostrunner 2 has some fun moments, though it can often be difficult to see past a lot of the performance issues and inconsistent level design. When the game's at its best, slicing through a horde of enemies and jumping around like a ninja, it can be an exhilarating experience. However, it might be worth waiting for a patch to address a lot of the core issues present at launch.
