Hotline Miami 2 : Wrong Number explose les codes de son médium. Plus qu'un jeu vidéo, une œuvre interactive aussi marquante qu'Orange Mécanique de Stanley Kubrick en son temps. Si en soit il reprend tout du principe de son aîné et que des bugs récurrents viennent entacher l'expérience, les développeurs de Dennaton Games font mieux qu'il y a trois ans. Le gameplay est toujours aussi nerveux et sulfureux. Ne loupez pas ce bijou sanglant, cette perle tranchante prête à vous retourner le cerveau. Finalement, le 2 n'est pas un si mauvais numéro.

At its core, Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number doesn’t do much different than its predecessor. It’s gritty, pulp fiction cranked to eleven. Rich with drugs, sex, violence, corruption and all the other buzz words of its artistic scene, it dares to push the player further down a surreal trance of discomfort. But beyond its dizzying story is a game that feels honed and intense. Visceral and satisfying, Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number is bloody action, concentrated to a near-perfect balance. With the subtle changes to design and options, the game takes incremental steps toward evolution, while still feeling as mentally unstable as you’d want. It controls like a dream, entrancing the player with its accessible design, challenging difficulty and blissfully indulgent presentation. Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number is purposely discomforting and hypnotically visceral. It’s one of the best games released so far this year.

Hotline Miami 2 is everything you would expect out of the sequel. It's still as violent as ever before and best of all, it's still incredibly fun. With multiple playable characters, an interesting story, a phenomenal soundtrack, and intense gameplay, I have a feeling that Hotline Miami 2 will be on my top 10 list of games when 2015 comes to a close. Aside from a couple of issues, Hotline Miami 2 is incredibly fun and is a game that shouldn't be missed.

Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number è uno sparatutto dotato di rara maestria, che pecca solo quando, in maniera fin troppo pedissequa, si limita a seguire alla lettera il manifesto del suo illustre predecessore. Spezzata questa catena, il gioco esprime al massimo il suo enorme potenziale, culminando in un climax di violenza.

Ripartendo dalla base ludica del suo predecessore, Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number lo supera in tutto, tranne che sul fronte dell'originalità. Catalogare il titolo Dennaton Games come un semplice aggiornamento contenutistico, però, sarebbe profondamente ingiusto. Il nucleo portante è sempre quello: Wrong Number è un action bidimensionale schizzato e frenetico, capace però di valorizzare il calcolo strategico e l'improvvisazione. Travolgente e ritmato, persino assuefacente, il gameplay di base viene collocato qui in una struttura meno omogenea, ed anzi attentissima ad introdurre variabili sempre nuove e cambiare il gusto delle scene. Sostenuta da una più marcata diversità stilistica (fra stage ambientati una giungla haitiana e incursioni stroboscopiche in un night club), la parabola di Hotline Miami 2 raggiunge il suo apice soprattutto in fatto di accompagnamento sonoro e narrazione. I tre vinili in cui è incisa la colonna sonora sono zeppi di tracce memorabili, avvolgenti, mentre il racconto corale che alterna scene di desolante quotidianità al brivido fottuto e maledetto del sangue e della morte non può lasciare indifferenti. E' forse la narrazione malata l'aspetto più riuscito del titolo, al contempo giustificazione e denuncia della violenza, sguardo spietato e lucido sull'indole animalesca degli uomini, ed uno dei migliori esempi di epica della dannazione.

Come Hotline Miami, il secondo capitolo della serie di Dennaton Games non ha accontentato tutto e tutti. A nostro avviso, dopo aver spolpato per intero la modalità storia, rigiocato il titolo una seconda volta e riassaporato più e più volte svariati stage andando alla ricerca del miglior punteggio possibile, possiamo ritenerci più che soddisfatti da quanto proposto dal team indie assistito da Devolver Digital. Un’opera che ha migliorato quasi tutto quel che venne proposto, un paio di anni fa, in Hotline Miami, ma che paga un po’ dazio a causa di alcune incertezze che ne abbassano una valutazione altrimenti ben più assordante. La trama è ben più articolata ed elaborata di quanto ci si possa aspettare, sebbene il finale abbia lasciato tanti fan con l’amaro in bocca, ma è la giusta conclusione – seppur il team abbia optato per una narrazione troppo criptica – per una serie che non vedrà mai un terzo capitolo; questo, almeno, a detta degli sviluppatori, che hanno inserito anche un grazioso easter egg per prendere in giro gli addetti al settore e non solo. Frenesia, precisione, violenza spicciola, fanno parte di questo Hotline Miami 2 come lo facevano parte del primo titolo, e se non vi basta ancora troverete a sostegno di cotanta carneficina anche una soundtrack a dir poco succulenta, punto forte di tutta la produzione. Peccato per l’editor dei livelli non ancora disponibile, che avrebbe garantito fin da ora una longevità più elevata di quella attuale, tutto sommato alta tenendo conto della rigiocabilità di ogni stage, piuttosto che della modalità storia da noi ultimata in poco più di cinque ore.

Faux numéro mais bonne pioche pour Hotline Miami 2. Trois ans après le premier trip sous LSD, l’heure est venue de replonger tête la première dans un nouveau bain de violence assumée sur fond d’électro envoûtante. Le jeu de Dennaton ne prétend pas bouleverser les codes établis par son premier volet et certains pourront regretter le manque de véritables nouveautés dans son gameplay. Mais pourquoi changer une recette qui fonctionne ? Les deux développeurs suédois ont fait le choix d’une narration plus travaillée, portée par un casting de personnages aux histoires entremêlées tout en conservant de façon volontaire les bases d’un système de jeu nerveux et exigeant encensé par les hardcore gamers. Porté par une bande-son électro magistrale sentant bon le dancefloor du début des années 90, Hotline Miami 2 : Wrong Number connaît son public et offre donc une conclusion de qualité forgée dans les pixels et la violence.

Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number ha tanto, tantissimo in comune con l'originale di cui replica in maniera perfetta tutte le meccaniche di base. Contemporaneamente Dennaton Games sceglie una strada fatta di livelli più grandi e una narrazione più complicata, decisioni che non sempre pagano come sperato. Il risultato è un indie ricco di contenuti, divertimento e potenzialità, anche considerando l'arrivo di un editor che darà modo alla community di espanderlo nei mesi a venire, ma forse un po' più scomposto di quanto ci saremmo aspettati. Vale il consiglio di acquistarlo e farsi autonomamente la propria idea, per una quindicina di euro non c'è molto di cui lamentarsi.

Obwohl Dennaton Hotline Miami 2 ein paar interessante Ergänzungen verpasst hat, schafft es der brachiale Pixelkunst-Actionpuzzler nicht, sich aus dem Schatten seines Vorgängers zu lösen. Obwohl man sich dank zufälliger Wege einiger Gegner nicht mehr nur darauf verlassen kann, die Level auswendig zu lernen und trotz neuer Figuren oder Fähigkeiten spielt es sich meist wie Teil 1 – und sieht auch so aus. Es bietet mehr Umfang und ist unter dem Strich dank der verwirrenden Erzählstruktur sowie der zahlreichen Charaktere auch abwechslungsreicher als der erste Ausflug in die Florida-Metropole. Doch es fehlt abseits der Kulisse das gewisse Etwas, der rauhe, ungebügelte Charme, der aus dem Vorgänger etwas Besonderes machte und der zusammen mit Titeln wie Binding of Isaac die Indiewelle ins Rollen brachte. Diese Frische kann Hotline Miami 2 trotz herrlich verworrener Story, auf die David Lynch sicher stolz wäre, nicht bieten. Auch der ursprünglich vorgesehene Editor wird erst später nachgeliefert. Doch mit seinem nach wie vor gelungenen und an die frühen GTAs erinnernden 16-Bit-Artdesign, dem famosen Synthie-Soundtrack sowie der vollkommen überbordenden Gewalt wird man ebenso gut unterhalten wie vor zwei Jahren mit dem Vorgänger. Allerdings sollte man eine erhöhte Frustresistenz mitbringen – der Schwierigkeitsgrad hat ordentlich zugelegt.

Finalement, que peut-on penser globalement de Hotline Miami 2 : Wrong Numbler ? Le titre n’est peut être pas aussi excellent que son aîné c’est un fait. Par contre, le soft a quand même des qualités flagrantes à commencer par son scénario, certes confus, mais dont on a furieusement l’envie de connaitre le fin mot de l’histoire. De plus, la bande-son est également un pur bonheur pour les oreilles. Hélas, malgré une très bonne volonté des développeurs de proposer des nouveautés, on s’aperçoit que le gameplay avec les fans de Jacket est non seulement très peu exploité, mais en plus il vous faudra un petit moment d’adaptation avant de pouvoir contrôler avec brio les quatre bougres. Les bugs aussi viennent ternir le tableau de ce jeu qui pour 14.99 € seulement, vous tiendra en haleine 10 heures durant. Et puis après tout, même si le soft est moins bien, il n’en reste pas moins sympa donc laissez-vous tout de même tenter par ce background assez spécial…
