Surviving Mars è un titolo complesso, i cui pregi sono innegabili, primo fra tutti l'originalità dell'approccio al genere dei gestionali di città. Come detto nella recensione, pecca un po' per via della mancanza di contenuti, che alla lunga possono rendere il gioco ripetitivo. Non che si esaurisca subito, ma qualche edificio in più da costruire non gli avrebbe fatto male, così come qualche problema in più di affrontare a livello di gestione dei coloni. Per il resto è un prodotto ben studiato e con dei tocchi di classe notevoli, che gli appassionati del genere non dovrebbero lasciarsi sfuggire, anche in virtù della sua freschezza concettuale. Se avrà successo, sicuramente se ne continuerà a parlare anche nei prossimi mesi, se non anni.

Surviving Mars è un city builder che sembra davvero ambientato su Marte. Constatazione tutt'altro che scontata, visto che altri titoli simili tendono a trasferire nello spazio meccaniche di per sé poco caratterizzanti. Quindi, se l'idea di fondo vi stuzzica, state sicuri che Surviving Mars non vi deluderà. Non credete, però, di riuscire a dominare il pianeta rosso alla prima partita: la curva di apprendimento, se non ripida, è comunque faticosa, e la microgestione può farsi estenuante. Surviving Mars è un gioco dedicato a chi ha il gusto del dettaglio e non si annoia a ponderare attentamente il piazzamento di un magazzino, o la direzione di un acquedotto. Un gioco, insomma, fatto per chi ama i city builder vecchio stampo ed è in cerca di nuove sfide.

Surviving Mars ofrece exactamente lo que prometía. Una experiencia que se parece más a un largo proceso de aprendizaje donde sufriremos algunos disgustos por nuestra falta de previsión pero que, en general, es una experiencia placentera y agradable. Hay trabajo que hacer en el juego de Haemimont Games, durante muchas horas, y a veces ni las catástrofes ni algunas incomodidades del interfaz nos ayudarán, pero nadie dijo que fuera a ser sencillo, ¿verdad?

If you can stick it out through an unforgiving and poorly explained learning phase, there’s a lot of excitement, challenge, and customization to enjoy beneath and beyond the grand, glass habitation domes of Surviving Mars. I wish I’d had more reasons to care about the people in my colony than just the balance sheets for synthetic polymers and microchips, but at the end of the Martian day, it’s like a SimCity sandbox where everyone can die at any time because you made a minor miscalculation in your electrical grid. And that’s actually pretty exciting.

Surviving Mars combines so many interesting mechanics and genres but seems to lack the overall depth that defines more specialized titles. Nevertheless, it's an entertaining romp in exploration, survival and colonization that's good for a couple dozen hours or so.

Un juego profundo, divertido y en el que dedicar tantas horas como sea necesario a crear una ciudad en un entorno totalmente inhóspito como lo es la superficie de Marte, que no obstante falla a la hora de ofrecer finalmente la libertad que promete en un principio, lo que hace que no nos sintamos "arquitectos" o planificadores... sino que cumplimos una ruta de construcción y evolución.

Non c’è che dire: Surviving Mars è un buon city builder a tema fantascientifico. La sfida costruttiva e gestionale offerta ci è parsa ben equilibrata, specialmente nelle fase iniziali e centrali di una partita. Anche se molto canonico, funziona bene lo sviluppo di nuove, avveniristiche tecnologie, fondamentale per farci percepire tutti i diversi "strati" di difficoltà con cui il titolo cerca di metterci alla prova durante tutta la progressione. Ci sarebbe forse piaciuto, tuttavia, avere un controllo un po’ più ordinato (e creativo) sulla disposizione degli edifici, e magari - perché no - qualche tool per la terraformazione del suolo marziano. I principali difetti, comunque, risiedono in un'abbastanza evidente povertà a livello contenutistico, e in un end-game che perde quasi subito d’attrattiva nel momento in cui la gestione delle risorse non rappresenta più un problema. Speriamo che i ragazzi di Haemimont Games riescano a introdurre nel gioco, già nel prossimo futuro, qualche nuovo stimolo, così che la sopravvivenza su Marte possa risultare soddisfacente anche una volta superati i suoi principali ostacoli gestionali.

Surviving Mars ne manque pas de charme ni de profondeur. Avec son esthétique charmante et ses mécaniques bien huilées, le titre d'Haemimont offre de nombreuses perspectives de gestion, contraignant le joueur à planifier bien en amont son plan de colonisation sous peine d'échouer lamentablement à peine le premier habitant arrivé sur Mars. Malheureusement, son statut bac à sable le dessert plus qu'autre chose. Beaucoup trop avare en tutoriel, Surviving Mars ne prend pas le joueur par la main qui devra comprendre les mécaniques du jeu par une succession d'échecs cuisants. Cependant, une fois les rudiments assimilés, l'ensemble s'avère assez lent et répétitif et n'offre que peu de sentiment de progression au joueur. Alors certes, le joueur persévérant sera ravi d'établir une colonie colossale mais les moins acharnés se tourneront sans doute vers un titre à la progression plus structurée. Intéressant, mais à s'offrir en connaissance de cause.
