Dead Space Remake est plus qu’un simple remake, c’est un tout nouveau jeu. Motive a fait un travail de titan pour donner une seconde vie à l’un des chefs-d’oeuvres du genre survival horror. Non seulement le jeu est une véritable claque graphique et profite d'un sound design de haute volée, mais en prime, les quelques ajustements de gameplay et le travail sur le level design offrent une vraie valeur ajoutée. S’il est évident que ceux qui n'ont pas touché au jeu d’origine y trouveront leur compte, les amoureux de la licence ayant parcouru le Dead Space de 2008 de long en large seront eux aussi surpris. Ce remake regorge en effet de nouveautés intelligentes et bien amenées et étoffe un univers qui a su gagner en consistance au fil des épisodes. Une plongée dans l’horreur du plus bel effet, et une vraie claque « new gen». Maintenant on ne veut qu’une chose, la suite, et vite !

Dead Space is one of the true legends of the survival horror genre, and EA Motive’s new remake does the original game full justice while also introducing a variety of fantastic new additions and reworkings. Other than some slight disappointment in its visuals on a technical (but certainly not artistic or atmospheric) level, this is a remake that finds a near-perfect balance between retaining the heart and soul of its predecessor and reanimating its body in some unexpected (but positive) ways.

Come operazione remake, EA Motive ha svolto un lavoro davvero certosino nel riproporre oggi un gioco di 15 anni fa nel migliore dei modi. Non che manchino difetti e stonature (backtracking molto frequente, fluidità non impeccabile in 4K, scopi delle missioni poco appassionanti), ma come esperienza survival horror il Dead Space targato 2023 è un gioco attualissimo, terrorizzante, meno lineare e guidato di quanto mi ricordassi, forte di un’ambientazione perfetta per il genere e con una quantità tale di aggiunte, modifiche e abbellimenti che vorremmo vedere sempre in qualsiasi remake videoludico.

Oggi, come e più di allora, Dead Space è un appuntamento irrinunciabile per i fan del genere di riferimento e non solo per coloro che hanno amato il classico del 2008. Mediante interventi oculati in ogni ambito dell'esperienza, dall'intreccio ai personaggi, fino a specifici elementi ludici e alla piacevolezza dell'esplorazione, i ragazzi di EA Motive ci hanno consegnato la miglior versione di questo caposaldo dell'horror videoludico, impreziosendolo ulteriormente con una cornice audiovisiva non priva di qualche incertezza ma di gran pregio, che rende ancor più disturbante il teatro degli orrori della USG Ishimura.

With its stunningly redesigned spaceship, smartly and subtly enhanced story, and spectacularly reimagined action scenes, Motive Studio has managed to successfully breathe new life into the seminal sci-fi horror universe of Dead Space. Despite the fact I’ve returned to the 2008 original several times over the years and found it to hold up fairly well, my latest journey through the darkened hallways of the USG Ishimura still managed to consistently surprise me and pull me into Isaac’s plight far more than ever before, while still satisfying my desire to butcher undead astronauts with an enjoyable arsenal of wildly unsafe mining tools. It’s clear that this superb Dead Space remake has been a labour of love for the team at Motive Studios, who’ve very carefully balanced innovation and renovation with preservation, and to their credit the end result is undoubtedly the definitive way to experience – or re-experience – one of the best survival horror shooters that Capcom never made.

Motive Studio has done the unthinkable with Dead Space. It has turned this iconic, incredibly memorable survival horror game from fifteen years ago into an even more immersive and engaging experience. This isn’t just a simple graphical upgrade, but an overhaul on a significant portion of the mechanics and storytelling, crafting a better and more gratifying universe to dive into. It perfectly straddles the line of nostalgia and feeling new. Whether it’s the new puzzles, additional ways to approach a combat scenario or simply the added storytelling elements to expand what happened on the mining vessel, Dead Space has never felt so complete. This is in addition to the Ishimura being an interconnected ship where players can go from one end to the other while exploring new areas with the metroidvania-esque keycard system. Whether you’re new or a longtime fan, there’s a lot here for you. Dead Space is up there with Resident Evil 2 as one of the best remakes ever made.

Dead Space manages to completely capture what made the original game so good while updating it for the times. As Isaac Clarke exploring the Ishimura is as terrifying as ever with Necromorphs popping out of the wall, but with enhanced visuals and audio are elevated to a new level. The added depth to Isaac's character are a welcomed addition, though his reaction to certain conversations does leave a bit to be desired.

Dead Space reste la référence du survival-horror en 2023. Avec ce remake, les joueurs expérimentés retrouveront une excellente aventure avec un moteur qui le rend plus beau que jamais tandis que les néophytes découvriront un titre majeur dans son genre. On espère toutefois qu’en cas d’adaptation de l’épisode 2, Motive saura proposer plus de nouveautés en bousculant les codes.

En 2008, Dead Space terrorisait les joueuses et les joueurs avec son atmosphère lugubre, son gameplay viscéral et son récit SF aux relents psychologiques. En 2023, le remake devrait réitérer ces exploits, ravivant les cauchemars de certains, en instillant des nouveaux dans la tête des autres. Sous la houlette du studio Motive, Isaac Clarke retrouve autant sa voix que la voie, dans une aventure revigorée par une réalisation sublimant l’ambiance et le design sonore. Il faut dire aussi que personne n’est vraiment parvenu à faire du Dead Space après Dead Space. Cette saga méritait bien plus qu’une retraite forcée après un troisième épisode travestissant tout ce qui a été si solidement établi par attrait du grand spectacle. C’est finalement un juste retour des choses : cette production majeure de la SF d’horreur ne pouvait renaître qu’en repartant de la base. En espérant que, cette fois, le décollage ne sera pas suivi d’un crash. Car, dans l’oubli, plus personne ne vous entend crier.

Dead Space Remake Il lavoro fatto su Dead Space Remake, da parte di Motive, è incredibile. Un remake completo che, oltre a rendere ancora più giustizia al capolavoro di Visceral Games del 2008, va ad offrire al giocatore un'esperienza più adrenalinica ed emozionante. Il gameplay risulta essere solido, sebbene non esente da lievi difetti: colpi che vanno a vuoto, compenetrazioni poligonali, e una leggera legnosità nei movimenti. Graficamente siamo rimasti a dir poco estasiati dall'utilizzo eccellente del Frostbite Engine, un motore grafico dalle mille risorse e potenzialità che ha permesso agli sviluppatori di aggiornare ogni elemento di Dead Space Remake: texture, modelli poligonali, animazioni. Insomma, se non avete mai giocato al titolo del 2008 e soprattutto vi piacciono le tematiche ed ambientazioni survival horror sci-fi, questo remake è da acquistare ad occhi chiusi. PRO Remake completo | Graficamente impressionante grazie al Frostbite Engine | Trama di gioco migliorata così come la componente esplorativa CONTRO Colpi ravvicinati non sempre precisi | Qualche compenetrazione poligonale di troppo |

En 2023, la référence de l’horreur sci-fi a un nouveau visage bien connu, celui d’Isaac Clarke. Grâce à des ajouts techniques et narratifs qui boostent son organisme, la création mutante de Motive est plus irrésistible que jamais. Ce remake du mythe Dead Space ne fait pas que changer le papier peint de l’Ishimura, il lui redonne un nouveau moteur capable de le propulser – de nouveau – vers les étoiles. Que vous soyez endoctriné ou néophyte, il y a une place pour vous dans ce vaisseau sanguin qui prend des allures de train fantôme, car oui, Dead Space est plus flippant que jamais.

No podría estar más contento con este remake de Dead Space. Hace los cambios justos para que el clásico de Visceral se actualice a los nuevos tiempos sin perder ni un ápice de su alma, logrando que incluso aquellos que ya nos sabemos de memoria el original disfrutemos igualmente de la experiencia buscando las diferencias y las novedades. No sabría deciros si ahora hay más o menos necromorfos que en el clásico, pero sí puedo garantizaros que os van a hacer sufrir, y que la munición es un bien demasiado preciado como para derrocharla tontamente. Y justo es a lo que veníamos. A pasarlo mal pero con un apartado audiovisual de infarto. Siendo así, el remake cumple sobradamente.

Dead Space has been brought back in the most faithful manner possible. With the fantastic base experience still very much intact, EA Motive has expanded on it with new content, expanded areas, and more mechanics to help deliver on the vision the game's original creators had 15 years ago. Compared to more modern titles — and other remakes from a similar period — Dead Space disappoints with visuals that fail to justify why it's a current-gen only release. However, it's still a great game to play in 2023, and new quests and mechanics provide more than enough reason to go back to a survival horror classic.

En 2023, vous n’avez pas besoin de lire un test pour savoir que Dead Space est un classique incontournable. La bonne nouvelle, c’est que ce remake parvient à rafraîchir le jeu et lui donner une nouvelle jeunesse. L’USG Ishimura est plus terrifiant que jamais sous les feux éblouissants du Frostbite Engine. Cette version est une réussite technique impressionnante qui en met plein les yeux à chaque instant. Les ajouts et améliorations sont par contre un peu timides. Certaines phases de jeu son modernisées, d’autres sont affinées, et le scénario s’étoffe d’éléments qui n’étaient introduits que dans les opus suivants, mais ces ajouts sont marginaux, et ne s’adressent qu’au fan qui connaissait Dead Space absolument par cœur. Vous avez là la meilleure version possible de Dead Space, incontestablement, mais le voyage n’est pas forcément indispensable si le jeu est encore frais dans votre mémoire. Pourvu que tout ça nous mène à un Dead Space 4…
