When you deftly combine gorgeous aesthetics, solid RPG mechanics and old-school beat-’em-up action into a single game, it’s hard to go wrong — and it didn’t. Dragon’s Crown was already a stellar game back in 2013 and its remaster is an equally stellar game in 2018. Sure, it would have been great if Vanillaware added extra content to further differentiate it from the original, but when a game plays — and looks — as good as this, it’s hard to hold such complaints against it. Though with that in mind, you really have to consider whether a purchase is worth it here. For those who own the original, Dragon’s Crown Pro offers little more than the convenience of playing on modern consoles. For everyone else though? Go for it.

Dragon's Crown torna su PlayStation 4 con una riedizione che non apporta nessun tipo di modifica al titolo originale dal punto di vista dei contenuti. Questo può rappresentare per alcuni un valido motivo per rinunciare all'acquisto, ma è indubbio che parliamo ancora oggi del punto più alto del proprio genere e di un acquisto quasi obbligato per tutti coloro che un lustro fa si sono persi un piccolo grande gioiello. Sperando che Vanillaware continui su questa strada e che 13 Sentinels possa innalzare ancor di più il livello delle proprie produzioni, il consiglio è di recuperare Dragon's Crown e lanciarsi a capofitto nel suo mondo fatto di fantasy e mitologia.

Dragon’s Crown es un juego que todos los amantes de los RPG deben de jugar alguna vez en su vida, ahora además con esta versión para PlayStation 4 lo pueden hacer de la mejor manera posible y en nuestro idioma. Es cierto que a pesar de haber 5 años de diferencia entre las versiones originales y esta remasterización el juego ha podido aguantar el paso del tiempo de manera excepcional, sin embargo para aquellos que en su día lo pudieron disfrutar es cierto que esta versión mejorada no ofrece nada nuevo salvo la traducción.

Vanillaware sublime sa pépite vidéoludique avec cette version Pro destinée à la PlayStation 4. Certes ce portage pourrait paraître feignant. Cependant, il est souvent inutile de toucher à la perfection au risque de ruiner l’expérience originelle. Dragon’s Crown Pro s’offre un affichage en 4K ainsi qu’une bande originale et orchestrale flambant neuve. Sans oublier l’ajout de sous-titres en français et d’une compatibilité Cross Play-Save bienvenue. Si vous n’aviez pas eu le temps de découvrir cette oeuvre à l’époque, sautez sur l’occasion.

Dragon's Crown Pro es una aventura auténtica, preciosa y que da para muchas horas de juego, y aunque parecía imposible mejorar la base que tenía el título de Vanillaware en la anterior generación, lo logra de la mejor forma posible, donde una vez más tenemos un título del género acción RPG y hack and slash de exploración de mazmorras que nos ofrece por delante una gran cantidad de horas de juego, así como de diversión si además lo hacemos con hasta tres amigos más. Tanto si no se ha jugado o no en su momento tanto en la portátil de Sony como en la pasada generación, es una oportunidad que no se puede perder, y si eres un veterano en la saga, y sobre todo gozas de una PS4 Pro, que es donde más se nota la remasterización, vas a revivir la historia del Reino de Hydeland de nuevo con una sonrisa en la cara, ya que el título conserva su esencia intacta, pero mejora el apartado visual con una mayor tasa de fotogramas, un apartado artístico mejorado y una banda sonora regrabada para ofrecer una experiencia mejor.

Un perfecto equilibrio entre el "beat´em up" clásico y el RPG, con un apartado visual muy bello y cargado de personalidad. La versión remasterizada alcanza resolución 4K en PS4 PRO, está traducida y tiene una nueva banda sonora orquestal. Si no lo habéis jugado en PS3 y Vita hace unos años, es una ocasión perfecta para descubrir este "brawler".

Dragon's Crown PRO è un gioco assolutamente eccelso, e questa nuova versione è una vera e propria manna per chi volesse scoprire la gemma dei Vanillaware. Allo stesso modo, chiunque abbia ancora la possibilità di giocarlo su PS3/PSVita deve valutare al meglio se le novità introdotte possano valere il prezzo del biglietto. Il cross-play multipiattaforma, i 4K e la localizzazione in italiano sono un indiscutibile valore aggiunto: tutto dipende da quanto desideriate recuperare il vostro vecchio salvataggio, e ricominciare a trucidare orchi.

Dragon’s Crown ist das Ergebnis, wenn man klassische 2D-Brawler vom Schlage eines Final Fight oder Golden Axe mit der Jäger-und-Sammler-Motivation eines Diablo kreuzt und das Ganze in ein unglaublich schönes Artdesign verpackt. Die handgezeichneten Figuren und Schauplätze sind auch viereinhalb Jahre nach der Premiere immer noch ein Hingucker – auch wenn es mit gerade mal neun Abschnitten (immerhin mit A-/B-Varianten) kein üppiges Angebot an Kulissen gibt. Die Auseinandersetzungen sind angenehm hektisch und gut zu kontrollieren. Allerdings gleitet das Hacken & Slayen bei großer Gegneranzahl und explosiven Effekten mitunter von der Hektik ins absolute Chaos – wobei es nur selten dazu kommt, dass man in diesen Momenten ein Ableben zu beklagen hat. Zwar gibt es keine besonderen Team-Angriffe, doch wer neben Diablo 3 auf der Suche nach einer weiteren unterhaltsamen Koop-Action ist und sich dem Sog von Figurenentwicklung sowie immer besseren Beute nicht entziehen kann, wird hier auf lange Sicht ebenfalls glücklich. Allerdings können weder der neu eingespielte Soundtrack, die gebündelten Inhalte noch die bis auf 4K aufgedrehte Kulisse den Ausschlag dafür geben, Dragon’s Crown Pro über die Gold-Grenze zu hieven – dazu wiegen die nach wie vor vorhandenen konzeptionellen Mankos nach wie vor zu schwer.

Sono del parere che un genere come “il picchiaduro a scorrimento”, soprattutto quando così ben costruito, sia un’esperienza irrinunciabile, a fronte anche della prospettiva del VR e della grafica perfetta. Dragons Crown Pro è sicuramente una specie in via d’estinzione, un animale di una razza da proteggere. Un gioco unico che, anche se non esente da difetti, merita di essere giocato e ammirato in tutta la sua bellezza. Questa volta in 4K.

A distanza di cinque anni dall’uscita per PS3 e PSVita, Vanillaware e Atlus decidono di redistribuire Dragon’s Crown su PS4, alla ricerca di quel successo al botteghino che George Kamitani e soci non erano riusciti ad ottenere. Il gioco si è riconfermato l’ottimo beat ‘em up che avevamo analizzato sulle console della passata generazione, ricco di possibilità e dal grande fattore di rigiocabilità, il tutto condito da una notevole accessibilità di base. Dragon’s Crown Pro è un titolo che non pretende assolutamente di piacere al grande pubblico, per quanto ha dalla sua tutte le carte per poterci riuscire. L’eccezionale motore grafico, accompagnato dalle buone musiche di sottofondo, potrebbe spingere i consumatori più giovani e curiosi a riscoprire un genere ormai quasi defunto. Allo stesso modo, gli utenti più avanti con gli anni ritroveranno nell’ultima opera di Vanillaware tutta una serie di situazioni ludiche affrontate durante la giovinezza. Le migliorie apportate a questa nuova edizione, in ogni caso, sono in sostanza solo di natura grafica. Nel caso in cui abbiate già giocato approfonditamente Dragon’s Crown nelle precedenti versioni, potreste pensare di evitare l’acquisto. Se, invece, Dragon’s Crown non è entrato a far parte della vostra collezione di picchiaduro a scorrimento, dovreste assolutamente correre in negozio.

Dragon’s Crown Pro is one of those games whose very existence elicits mixed reactions. The game holds up quite well as it’s just as enjoyable now as it was back in 2013. The gameplay can be on the repetitive side as is often the case with frenetic action games, but the RPG elements and story breaks help break up the monotony while multiplayer helps keep things interesting, though not adding voice chat support to online multiplayer is still a puzzling decision. The increased resolution makes a beautiful game look even better, and the ability to play cross platform with people on PlayStation 3 and Vita is a welcome feature, though including it may have come at the expense of making significant upgrades to the title. As good as Dragon’s Crown Pro may be, there are no significant additions and with only the soundtrack and visuals receiving polish there’s no point to upgrade to this version if you still have an original copy of Dragon’s Crown. But if you missed out on Dragon’s Crown five years ago, Pro is a perfect excuse to experience it.

It’s tempting to call Dragon’s Crown Pro a lazy rerelease, because beyond a slight visual bump and new orchestration of the soundtrack, this is basically the same game from 2013. The thing is, five years later, it’s still an incredibly engrossing experience, so I can appreciate the effort in simply bringing that same game to modern hardware.

A diferencia de Odin Sphere con su Leifthrasir y Muramasa con su Rebirth, no encontramos tantas diferencias en Dragon's Crown Pro respecto a la obra original, más allá de un aumento de resolución a 4K, su banda sonora orquestada y la nueva traducción de sus textos a nuestro idioma. Para los que no lo disfrutaron, su esencia de beat'em up con toques de RPG sigue manteniéndose fresca como el primer día, prometiendo una buena experiencia para una partida y una muy profunda para aquellos con ganas de pasar y repasar el juego con todos sus personajes y niveles de dificultad.

Dragon's Crown era una gran juego hace un lustro, y lo sigue siendo ahora. Sin embargo, las novedades para esta remasterización/reedición se nos antojan algo más escasas de lo que nos habría gustado, sobre todo tras experimentar el extremo contrario de la balanza con la remasterización de Odin Sphere Leifthrasir en 2016. Gráficos en alta definición, una banda sonora regrabada y poco más... Podría haberse aprovechado el tiempo para añadir niveles, mejorar animaciones, etc... Algo que justificara los 50€ que cuesta el juego en su versión PS4. Y aún con esas, si no lo has probado, sigue mereciendo la pena, sobre todo si eres de los que disfrutabas con los beat'em up de la vieja escuela en los salones recreativos.

Dragon's Crown Pro sigla il ritorno non solo di un titolo apprezzato dalla community e dalla critica stessa, ma anche quello di un genere che ultimamente è una rarità vederlo apparire nel mercato odierno. Sicuramente, se siete in cerca di un'esperienza videoludica alternativa dal solito, il prodotto di Vanillaware saprà sicuramente rispondere alle vostre esigenze di "cambiamento".
