If it wasn't for the extreme bugs and flaws that shroud ReCore this would be one of the best games I've played so far this generation. The good outweighs the bad. I hope for its success because this new IP deserves to be an ongoing franchise for everything new it brought to the table.

ReCore è un ottimo titolo: ben narrato, coinvolgente, con tante cose da scoprire nell'ottica di un'esplorazione non banale, che richiede pazienza, impegno e colpo d'occhio. La storia di Joule, di suo padre, della colonizzazione fallita di Far Eden e della rivolta dei corebot vi prenderà fin dalle prime battute, mentre il sistema di combattimento e le capacità dei vostri compagni robotici acquisteranno man mano maggiore spessore, anche grazie a un sistema di potenziamento sfaccettato e interessante. Purtroppo alcune magagne tecniche impediscono al gioco di brillare, in particolare i tempi di caricamento eccessivi al game over, ma c'è la concreta possibilità che tutto venga sistemato con degli aggiornamenti.

Un gioco che avrebbe richiesto maggiore fiducia da parte di Microsoft e un pochino di sviluppo aggiuntivo. Così com'è è un affascinante mix di generi che propone una sfida lunga e abbastanza impegnativa, afflitto però da qualche imperfezione di troppo e da tempi di caricamento allucinanti. C'è molto da esplorare, molto da trovare e sufficiente malìa per tenere i giocatori incollati allo schermo, fianco a fianco allo spirito di ciò che ReCore avrebbe potuto essere con un po' di cura aggiuntiva.

ReCore es todo un festival de altibajos, que posee la capacidad de entretener, pero también es capaz de tirar por la borda el componente inmersivo por diversos fallos flagrantes que sacan del ritmo al que está a los mandos. No deja de ser un producto cumplidor, que se salva ligeramente de la quema por llegar al mercado a precio reducido. Pero es innegable que esperábamos mucho más.

I didn’t expect ReCore to be quite as big as it is, and from the looks of things, it’s possible its developers didn’t either. Its world, while interesting to explore for a good while, is ultimately too big with too little happening in it to be a totally serviceable housing for the strong combat and platforming gameplay within. It feels like a great, arcadey action platformer spread across too big a canvas, and it asks you to draw back over the same lines a few too many times

ReCore ouvre le bal dans une bonne lancée pour Microsoft. Reprenant de nombreux caractères old-school du jeu vidéo grâce aux inspirations de Megaman et Metroid Prime dans un aspect légèrement futuriste, il propose une aventure assez prenante mais qui se verra quelque peu ralentie vers la fin pour arriver jusqu’au combat final. Tarifé à 40€, il se révèle être une surprise pour son contenu, d’autant plus que le jeu est compatible avec le programme Xbox Anywhere qui vous proposera d’avoir une copie du jeu aussi bien sur PC que sur Xbox One ! Doté d’un bestiaire solide en plus d’un chara-design alléchant, il n’est pas impossible que vous restiez collé devant votre télé de bonnes heures, mais pour ainsi le laisser dans le placard à cause d’une faible rejouabilité. En revanche, si vous avez l’exigence de la qualité technique et graphique… Il se pourrait que vous ayez du mal à accrocher.

Microsoft avrebbe dovuto crederci di più. Nonostante certi segnali facessero temere il peggio, ReCore non è affatto un gioco mediocre. È un gioco imperfetto, costantemente alla ricerca di un equilibrio tra le sue numerose anime. Gli sviluppatori avevano evidentemente puntato in alto ma sono stati costretti a ridimensionarsi lungo il cammino. Ne è uscito un titolo comunque godibile, un omaggio evidente a un vecchio modo di intendere l'action-adventure, con tutti i pro e i contro del caso. Qua e là si intravedono tocchi di modernità, ma alla base dell'avventura c'è una struttura old school che attinge a piene mani dalla tradizione, non sempre con risultati soddisfacenti. A minare il piacere dell'esplorazione di Far Eden troviamo una realizzazione tecnica da rivedere: rallentamenti inspiegabili, alcuni scorci old gen ma soprattutto, e purtroppo, caricamenti al limite della ragionevolezza. Confidiamo in una patch.

Recore è uno spreco di potenziale, un titolo che con un po’ di cura in più poteva diventare una piccola perla di questa generazione di console. È un gioco che ci ha divertito molto ma anche fatto tanto arrabbiare. Il mix di platform, puzzle, TPS e RPG funziona ma ci ha lasciato con un po’ di amaro in bocca quando ci rendiamo conto che la parte ruolistica è stata trattata con superficialità in alcuni aspetti impedendo al gameplay di raggiungere un maggior livello di profondità e varietà. Il comparto tecnico alterna alti e bassi, e la scelta di allungare inutilmente il finale e affidarsi troppo ai collezionabili per raccontare alcune parti importanti della storia ci hanno procurato abbastanza fastidio. Insomma se siete disposti a chiudere un occhio sulle criticità, Recore saprà regalarvi qualche soddisfazione considerando anche il prezzo budget (40 euro) a cui viene venduto.

ReCore entra in punta di piedi nello scenario videoludico miscelando tanti generi in un unico gioco e centrando l’obiettivo che gli sviluppatori si erano prefissati, ovvero quello di divertire. I giocatori più caparbi e che amano le sfide troveranno in ReCore qualcosa che regalerà soddisfazioni infinite nel completamento di ogni singolo dungeon e dell’avventura nella sua interezza. Coloro che cercano uno sparatutto nudo e crudo, potrebbero non riuscire ad apprezzare nel migliore dei modi tutto quello che ha da offrire quest’opera. L’intento di Armature Studio e Comcept di fondere più generi funziona egregiamente: le sezioni di platforming sono perfettamente integrate al combat system ed il sistema di progressione varierà in base al modo di giocare. Un titolo fondamentalmente da premiare, con una durata oltre le 12 ore (e molte altre per terminarlo al 100%), ma con tempi di caricamento eccessivamente lunghi (che potrebbero essere risolti con una patch) e texture non proprio di prim’ordine. Nonostante le sue imperfezioni non ce la sentiamo di bocciare quest’avventura, anzi, la promuoviamo, perché ha dalla sua qualcosa di innovativo, che potrebbe invogliare i giocatori a farsi una fantastica traversata nel deserto di Far Eden in compagnia di Joule e dei suoi inseparabili amici di latta. E poi, con un unico acquisto (in digitale) ad un prezzo budget, è possibile continuare l’avventura sia su Xbox One che su PC Windows 10. Cosa si può volere di più?

ReCore est un titre solide, qui aurait pu être très bon s’il n’était pas aussi inconstant. Nous avons d’un côté une direction artistique très réussie, un gameplay bien calibré et de l’autre quelques soucis de narration et une aventure qui s’avère vite répétitive. La difficulté relevée et quelque peu inégale risque également d’en frustrer plus, mais si vous êtes amateur de défi et que l’univers vous séduit, les 40 petits euros que coûtent le jeu représentent certainement un bon investissement... si vous pouvez y jouer. Parcourir les dunes d’Alter Eden en compagnie de Joule et Mack reste une belle expérience sur ordinateur, mais pour l’heure, nous vous déconseillons la version Xbox One qui souffre de gros problèmes d’optimisation.

ReCore had a ton of potential and sadly squandered a good portion of it. The game still has moments of glory, and pulls inspiration from a lot of great games of the past. It even has a very old school feel to it, with 3D platforming and combat that feels very classic, if unfortunately not delivering top of the line quality. Still, the first few hours are worth trying out, and perhaps the flaws won’t be as glaring for all players. The game has a good foundation, and maybe some patches will get it close, but it’d take a complete rework to truly live up to the expectations that were set long ago.

Despite its problems, it’s not hard to envision a world in which a few changes along the way could have turned ReCore into a cult hit. Without the progress gating and fewer technical issues, we’d be left with a shorter, more intense action-platformer featuring a solid movement system. There’s something slightly enjoyable about ReCore‘s color-switching combat mechanic, despite it taking place in such a lock-on heavy shooting system and the friendship between Joule and her robot pals Mack, Seth and Duncan can be charming. While not lackluster enough to be considered a bad game, there are enough stumbles and hiccups here to prevent this effort from Armature and Comcept from living up to its potential. It remains to be seen whether or not there’s going to be enough love for this odd exclusive to get a sequel, but considering the foundation in place, a ReCore 2 wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world.

ReCore est un bon jeu, voire un très bon, mais uniquement durant les 3 premières heures. Un vrai petit coup de coeur, car l'univers y est alors séduisant, la direction artistique forte, la musique de qualité, le scénario intriguant et le gameplay simple et accessible... Malheureusement, on va assez vite se rendre compte que l'histoire vivote sans véritablement avancer, jusqu'à un final décevant, que le contenu proposé devient ultra répétitif au point de pouvoir comparer le phénomène aux quêtes FedEx d'un RPG, et dans le dernier tiers du jeu la difficulté devient si hallucinante que vous n'en pourrez plus de vous faire massacrer par les ennemis ou le décor, puis de subir ces maudits et bien trop longs temps de chargement. Les intentions étaient là, le résultat final, lui, n'y est pas. Et c'est fort regrettable, tant le charme opère au départ. Dommage que ce ne soit pas un titre épisodique, on aurait pu se contenter du premier épisode, généralement donné gratuitement !
